The perfect getaway at our cozy rustic farmhouse, just a 50-minute drive North of Reykjavik. It is in close proximity to waterfalls, mountain hikes, and hot springs, offering stunning ocean and mountain views, and an ideal spot for Northern Lights viewing without light pollution. With easy access and being close to the main Road 1, you can ensure a seamless continuation of your Iceland adventures. The whole house is designed to provide comfort, cozy & rustic feeling in the Icelandic country side. There are three bedrooms in the house: 1 with a double bed (160 cm wide mattress), 1 with two single beds, and finally a suite with a sleeping loft (180 cm wide mattress) and a sleeping couch (140 cm wide). There is a steep and narrow ladder up to the loft, so you have to be careful (see photos) and beware that it isn't accessible for everyone. The suite has a private entrance, a small private bathroom and a kitchenette. The views from all the bedrooms are towards the Mountain range Hafnarfjall in the North. The main living-space has a fully functioning kitchen, including a Nespresso machine, water boiler, microwave and all other necessities. Note that there is no fridge/freezer in the kitchen, but there are mini-fridges in two of the bedrooms. There is a big dining table (which seats 8) in the living-space and a beautiful, comfortable green velvet sofa, from which you can enjoy the sunshine and open views to the South. You look out over vast grass fields, full of bird life from spring until autumn, a small forest in the background and mountain range Akrafjall. The living space is decorated with our personal book collection and board games, which you are welcome to enjoy during your stay. There is also a small projector above the couch, which can be used to watch movies on the white living room wall, if you feel like having a cozy night in. It just needs to be connected to a computer via the HDMI cable which is provided. The main bathroom is accessible through the living-space and has a comfortable sized walk in shower. From outside, you can see the ocean stretching all the way to Greenland and you can often see the sunset behind Snæfellsjökull glacier. There is very little light pollution around, so on clear days, our farm is also a great place to see the Northern Lights in the winter. We are often exposed to strong winds and powerful Icelandic weather during the winter. To feel the power of local nature in the country side is truly the best way to experience Iceland. We are trying to be as sustainable as possible, so we provide organic soap and shampoo/shower-gel in the bathrooms and organic coffee and biodegradable coffee pods to make coffee with (which goes directly to our compost). We do our best to choose organic cleaning and home products whenever possible and recycle everything we can. Kind reminder: Steep ladder to the upper loft in the suit room! Check our IG: @narfasel The land around the farm house is 28 hectares, and was used for a small (<1 hectare) commercial vegetable farm for a couple of years. Due to storm damage to the greenhouses, veggie growing will be on a small, homestead scale for the foreseeable future. We are not experienced farmers, so we plan to experiment and grow different vegetables on a small scale during the next few summer seasons to learn for the future. We are also planning to plant trees on 20 hectares of the land in collaboration with the Icelandic Forestry over the next few years. Last year, we planted at least 1.000 baby spruce trees. You have the whole farm house to yourself/yourselves. During the summer, you are welcome to visit the greenhouse(s) if they are in operation. You are also welcome to walk around the land and explore. Address: Narfasel, 301 Hvalfjarðarsveit Here are the GPS coordinates; (64.43983, -21.96600). Narfasel Farm Our farm is located in the Icelandic countryside, right below the mountains. The views across the fields stretch out over the North Atlantic Ocean. Search for Narfasel Farm on maps, we are located close to ROAD 1., about 300 meters down a gravel road. It is very easy to find the farm and fast, safe & easily accessible during the whole year. We are about 50 minutes North of Reykjavik. We have neighboring farms a few km away from us. The closest town is Borgarnes (about 15 min. drive) & Akranes (about 20 min. drive). Spots we recommend to visit around the farm are Glymur Waterfall, which is about a 30 min. drive away. Hvammsvik Hot Springs are a 40 min. drive. Krauma natural geothermal baths are about a 35 min. drive and Guðlaug Baths on the beach in Akranes 20 min. The farm is a perfect place to stay outside of the city (Reykjavik), yet no too far from it. Easy access to close by attractions like Glymur Waterfall, Hvammsvik Nature resort & Hot Springs, Guðlaug Baths, Krosslaug, Hafnarfjall mountain hikes, Akrafjall hikes, or a quick day spin around Snæfellsnes peninsula.
