Luxury shepherd's hut in Gweek
Luxury shepherd's hut in Gweek
Description
A secluded shepherd's hut set in a meadow near the village of Gweek on the Helford River. A peaceful spot surrounded by rolling countryside and brilliantly located for exploring both the tranquil Helford River and the untamed Lizard Peninsula. This romantic couples' retreat has been handcrafted by a local carpenter using reclaimed materials and vintage finds, with beautiful interiors and bespoke fittings, and wild meadow views from every window. A luxurious back-to-nature escape. The space Grambla Hut is a luxury, light-filled and spacious (for a hut!) shepherd’s hut with kingsize bed, cosy woodburner, a solid wood kitchen and dining area, plus an en-suite bathroom with rain shower and organic shower products. Outside, there's a lovely grassy area with table and chairs for morning breakfast in the sunshine, a firepit with deckchairs for evenings spent toasting marshmallows and festoon lighting strung between the trees. The area is packed with wildlife and you might see the resident barn owl swoop in front of the hut at twilight. Our rural hideaway is tucked away in a peaceful corner on the grounds of our farmhouse — once a busy farm but now home to us and our two young daughters. There are some gorgeous walks through ancient woodland in the surrounding area (the farm is on a bridlepath), the creekside village of Gweek is a mile down the hill, and Falmouth and Helston are easily reached along the A394. Inside features: Kingsize bed Cosy wood burning stove (basket of logs included) Well-equipped, solid wood kitchen with Belfast sink, fridge/freezer and hob, toaster, kettle, plus some cupboard essentials such as salt and pepper, teabags, coffee and sugar, oil. Bluetooth speaker WIFI Organic, locally made shower products in the bathroom Included in your hut: Bedlinen, towels (please bring your own beach towels), bath mat, tea towel, kitchen and bathroom items (such as kitchen roll, loo roll, hand soap, bin liners, washing up cloths, surface spray, toilet cleaner). Guest access There is a private car parking space with EV charger if needed. The hut is a couple of minutes' walk from the parking area through our grounds and meadow. Other things to note We are a few miles from the Navy airbase at Culdrose and you may hear some helicopter activity in the distance (but rarely at weekends). We are about a mile from an A-road and some light traffic noise can carry if the wind is blowing in a certain direction.
