Description
Wake up to the morning sun over the lake in the loft, or rise after the sun in one of the two back bedrooms. Enjoy a morning coffee or tea while enjoying the lake view from the bar top overlooking the water and watch for the Swans, Bald Eagles, and Blue Herons. After a hike on the trails, kayaking up the lake into conservation land, or fishing off the dock, relax in the hot tub. As the sun sets over the trees cuddle up on the couch with a good book and keep an ear out for the owls. The space This lakefront home built in the 1920s is built in a community made up of lots given away at bingo games! It is a fully winterized cottage located down a set of stairs through tiered gardens overlooking Eagleville Lake. It has two bedrooms and a loft. The back “Garden” bedroom has a bunk bed with a single on top, and a double on the bottom. It’s a beautiful vaulted room overlooking the garden in the back of the house. The next bedroom or the “Forest” bedroom features a queen bed and dedicated work space also overlooking the back gardens. It is located across from the newly remodeled bathroom with a spacious stand-up shower that has double shower heads. Next to the bathroom is a laundry closet with stacking washer and dryer. The real treat is the great room, which opens up into a vaulted room with a wall of windows overlooking the lake. With built in bookcases and a live edge bar top in front of the window it was created for community, maximum coziness and calm reflection. Above the bookcase is the loft with wonderful views of the water. There is a queen bed and a dresser for storage in the loft, that is accessible by a built in steep ladder stairway. The galley kitchen with custom cabinetry and granite countertop is the perfect size for vacation cooking and outfitted with all the necessities. The “top” deck is outfitted with all the outdoor seating, lounging and dining options you could need along with an outdoor grill, outdoor shower with hot water (closed in winter), the bottom deck has both lounging and seating options as well along with a fire pit. The hot tub is located on the upper deck overlooking the water. Hot tub is open year round, however in the winter suggest limiting use to 15-30min per day to allow proper heat recovery. There is a private dock with two adult kayaks, one kid’s kayak and a stand-up paddle board for seasonally appropriate use. Eagleville Lake is a 79.6-acre reservoir that is ideal for paddling with access to the Willimantic River where you can paddle upstream as far as the water level allows. There is a state-owned dam and two boat ramps located on the south end of the lake. The lake is shallow with the deepest portion in the south near the dam at 8 feet. It is between 3-6 feet off our dock. It is occasionally fit for wading, floating, or a swim but no diving or jumping, however can sometimes be murky when it hasn’t rained in a while. We would suggest water shoes, we have a few pairs here for use by guests. For fall and winter the kayaks are still available, as well as fire pit and hot tub for use. The space is fully heated with baseboard radiators. Cleaning: I personally clean it with sanitization being the top priority. I try to use as many eco friendly products as I can while still maintaining a healthy environment for our guests. Guest access The whole house and property is all yours. Along with access to the water via a dock, there is a shared community boat launch and small beach down the street that’s private to the street. The water is generally shallow so no motor boating activities are recommended however is great for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. You also have access to kayaks, a paddle board and life jackets. Across the street there is ample parking on our privately owned lot. Start the day with yoga on the provided mats, and end with board game night with an assortment of games for kids and adults. Enjoy listening to the five CD stereo with speakers wired throughout the house. Other things to note Please note there are 20+ stairs down to the house please take them into consideration when booking your stay. Also, there is a working quarry located across from the house. It operates Monday through Saturday business hours. We have provided sound machines for light sleepers.
