River Town Cottage Retreat + Kayaking or SUP!

Our Cottage is located in the small, historic river town of Portage Des Sioux on the Mississippi River Valley. Visit this quaint and beautiful part of Missouri, where the nearby river and nature views will not disappoint! Visit Our Lady of the Rivers viewpoint! Explore the waterfront marinas, their eating establishments, or visit the corner bar and restaurant in town. Enjoy an afternoon in tourist hotspot Grafton, IL, by taking the Grafton Ferry (3 mi). KatyTrailhead at Machens is 4 miles away. The space Retreat from the bustle of the city, from being out on the river all day, or from your fun-filled day in Alton, Grafton, or St. Charles! Stay in our quiet and tiny tucked-away Cottage in a town that's located on a beautiful part of the Mississippi River! 1 bedroom with a king-size bed and a full-size futon in the living room; FUTON MUST BE REQUESTED TO BE SETUP AS BED AT TIME OF BOOKING (no cribs available). You're welcome to bring food to cook small meals. The Cottage is equipped with an electric skillet and single burner (NO stove/oven), cooking utensils, and a full-size fridge. A charcoal-based grill is located outside The Cottage for your use. This is a wonderful and tight-knit river community with quite the history. Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine is a historical river landmark and a must-see during your stay. Easy to walk, bike, or drive to. Get a complimentary day pass for kayaking or stand up paddleboard at our riverfront property located nearby! (2 night minimum required) We highly encourage you to patronize our local businesses! We have a corner bar/pub in town called Froge's (open year-round with limited fall/winter hours) and the Longshot Tiki Bar located at the Longshot Marina (Spring-Fall only- NOW CLOSED FOR THE SEASON). Guest access * Guests have Cottage access and carport parking. * Garage and rear (backyard) to the property is accessible to hosts only. * Guests have access to a tandem bicycle (2 person bicycle) to ride around in town or down to the river (Spring-Fall only). Upon request, we can provide a single bike. * Guests have access to kayaks and paddleboards at our nearby river property (SRING-FALL only; 2-night minimum required; shared amenity between guests at that property and Cottage guests) * IF YOU NEED THE FUTON SETUP AS AN EXTRA BED, YOU MUST REQUEST THIS AT TIME OF BOOKING; NOT ON THE DAY OF CHECK-IN. Other things to note We require potential guests to be 25 years of age or older, as well as have been positively reviewed by a previous host to be able to book a stay with us at The Cottage. Booking requests that do not meet this criteria may be declined. The Cottage is located in a neighborhood. Therefore, guests must be mindful/respectful of our town and of our neighbors 🙂 Quiet hours are from 9pm-7am. WIFI is available for basic streaming of videos and movies. LONG-TERM STAYS: Long term stays have a maximum occupancy of 1-2 individuals. A 29-day maximum is the most we can approve at one time for a booking request. You may book an additional 29 day period, if more time is necessary. AS OF NOW: UBER/LYFT WILL drop you off in Portage Des Sioux but you CANNOT order an UBER/LYFT to get out of Portage. Those services will NOT pick you up here! A regular taxi service WILL pick up and drop off. Plan ahead if you will not have a vehicle.
