Home in Glasgow City

Description

The house is in the leafy conservation area of Dennistoun, a 20-25 minute walk to Merchant City & City Centre attractions. The neighbourhood has its own distinct vibe with bars & craft breweries, coffee shops, home bakeries, restaurants & wee shops. A handy public transport service runs bus & trains regularly to the city centre & direct trains to Loch Lomond National Park & Edinburgh. There’s free on-street parking and co-wheels cars & e-bikes to hire nearby. It’s a bike friendly house too! The space The house was built in the 1840s and its B listed, so it has a lot of heritage features. It’s set in a pretty square of similar houses which make up this quiet, family friendly pocket of Dennistoun. Your room is bright and airy overlooking the leafy back garden (season dependent!). With fresh decor and plenty of natural light, it’s an ideal base to see the city. The house is a short and interesting walk from Glasgow city centre and is close to all transport links - bus, train, e-bikes and co-wheels cars. We welcome cyclists and can safely store your bike. Alongside ourselves, we have the occasional family member staying. You'll also find contemporary artworks throughout the house - mainly by Glasgow based and Scottish artists. Your room has a comfy double bed with feather duvet and mattress topper, pillows and cotton / linen mix bedding (with natural crinkled look). A single sofa bed can be available to accommodate a child at an additional cost. There is plenty of hanging and drawer space, a table for having coffee and eating breakfast which can also double up as a desk for work. A tea / coffee making station has speciality teas, coffee pods, filtered water and a mini fridge with milk (do let us know if you prefer a plant based milk). You are welcome to top up water freely throughout the day from the fridge in the kitchen. There is also a TV and a digital radio in the room A second bedroom with a double bed, can be made available for an additional charge. This would be ideal for older children or an extended adult group. Rooms are on the upstairs level of the house. The bathroom is for your exclusive use with Molton Brown soaps and reed diffusers throughout. If you have allergies we are happy to remove these in advance, just let us know. Please note that we take extra steps to clean and sanitise frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We have a licence from Glasgow City Council to share our home. Guest access Check in is from 13:00, and if your room can be available earlier we are very happy to accommodate that. It’s no problem for you to drop bags off. Access to your room and bathroom is up the stairs which are directly facing you when you come through the front door. There will be no other guests on that level. We will be here to welcome you, provide keys and help with any queries you may have. Let us know of any dietary preferences and we’ll accommodate as best we can. You can use the fridge to top up filtered water but other than that, access to the kitchen may be limited. However, If you do want to have a continental style breakfast, make a packed lunch or, if the weather is nice and you would like to sit in the back garden (which is accessed through the kitchen) this can be arranged with a bit of notice. If you would like to make a light evening meal, we'll do our best to accommodate. We both work from home and will be downstairs pretty much all of the time. Also keen to say that it’s an old house and there’s always something on the go. Currently, we’re planning the painting of the outside of the house (following new windows) and replanning the garden! There will be no disruption however to your stay however 😊 During your stay We will meet you on arrival, and help you with anything you need to know about the house and the area. We are social, so very happy to help with anything! As we work mainly from home, and will be based downstairs, your room and bathroom are upstairs and for your privacy there will be no other guests upstairs. Other things to note We have Plusnet fibre optic broadband. There is free on street parking, usually spaces just outside the house or not far. If you’re driving, please use the postcode for sat nav purposes, G31 2JB. it's an old house and there's always some renovation job on the go, although we will not disturb you. Currently, we're working on the outside of the house and gardens! *Glasgow City Centre is not looking its best at the moment - with many upgrades to roads and particularly to George Square which is blocked off to visitors (it's not reopening until August). Additionally, a recent fire at Central Station area has meant buses have been diverted through town. However, you can still take a no.38 bus (heading east) from the Hope St side of the station to the house, where you will get off on Alexandra Parade - the stop just before the Coop.
