A beautiful rustic small cabin situated JUST on the edge of the stunning clear "Jølstravatnet". Here, the refreshing glacier water is just two steps away. Enjoy it for fishing, your morning swim, or by the kayak, boat or SUP (which are all included in your rental. The Cabin does not have running water, so get ready for a lifestyle close to nature. Enjoy lazy days by the lake, taking in the beautiful glacier views, or get around and explore the infinite number of beautiful hikes in the area The space The cabin is one of in total two cabins on the property, both hosted by us. As such, the outdoor area is shared with the other cabin (which hosts 4). The outdoor ameneties such as the boat, kayak and the SUP boards are shared. (but don't worry, we have two stand up paddle boards for particularly sunny days:)). We hope you take this chance to befriend your fellow travellers! The pictures speak for themselves, so I will not once again try to convey the stunning beauty of this place. However there are some things that are imortant to note prior to booking of the property. Toilet facility: First is the lack of running (tap) water in the cabin. This means that to do the dishes, you will have to retrieve water, and do it manually. Same thing goes for the washing your hands. Also to shower, if you are tough enough you'll do your baths in the lake, then dry off in front of the open fire place. Or you can boil up some water and wash yourselves with a cloth (yes, just like you've seen them do in the movies. In other words; if you are of posh nature and not really in the mood for something new, this might not be the place for you. Are you however longing to spend some days connecting with a basic style of living, surrounded by mountains glaciers and breathtaking views, we welcome you warmly. The toilet solution is combustion toilet (feel free to search up cinderella toilet if you're unsure what that is), also in a rural style. Situated outside the cabin, 4 meters away The area: The cabin is situated in Jølster, a breathtaking area with its heart in the lake surrounded by mountains and glaciers all around, where famous Norwegian painter Nikolai Astrup (contemporary of Edvard Munch) was raised and resided. The cabin likes directly besides (or underneath) the rather busy road E39. As such some traffic noise must be accounted for. Its proximity to the road also gets you to the local village with cafes, gas station and grocery store in just five minutes. There are an abundance of activities in and close to Jølster. Exploring Jølstravatnet by boat, kayak or SUP (included in the price). Numerous hikes to beautiful mountains, waterfalls and glaciers (for all leveles and abilities) Visting the famous Lovatnet (only an hour away by car), or simply driving around exploring all the beautiful corners of area. Me and my mom (who is a co-host) have spent our lives exploring the surrounding areas and its beautiful nature, and would love to help and advice you to maximize your time in Jølster. The cabin: The cabin is a (partially) one room solution, with the bed and kitchen in the back, and living room, fire place and lake entrance in the front. The bed is a 160 cm wide bed. The kitchen corner is currently undergoing renovations, but we hope to have pictures to present to you soon. Please note that as the cabin is rather small, it will not be a fullworthy kitchen, but rather a kitchenette, with a small fridge, a cooking stove top, a mini oven, and a water boil and french press for coffee. Perfectly suitable for cooking modest but delicious meals.
