Swanswell Gate was one of 12 original medieval city wall gates, and is one of only two remaining (the other being Cook Street Gate). The building was completed around 1440 and was then known as Priory Gate, having originally served as the entrance to the prior’s land. Remains of Coventry’s city walls can be found in the adjacent Lady Herbert’s Garden. It has now been converted into luxury holiday accommodation, and provides a unique place to stay in the heart of Coventry. The space The property retains the character of the medieval gatehouse now combined with modern luxury to provide high quality self-contained accommodation. Swanswell Gate is a three storey property with one large double bedroom, and sleeps two people. The property suits a couple or an independent visitor Original features such as the unique historic stonework are combined with modern luxury to ensure a really comfortable stay. A luxurious bed and plenty of hot water in a modern shower, along with all you need in the kitchen and living areas are available right in the heart of the city. With views over Lady Herbert’s Garden, Swanswell Gate is an oasis in this historic city. Downstairs there is a modern kitchen-dining room, with Corian grey quartz worktops, modern Neff cooker with induction hob, integrated dishwasher, microwave, fridge with icebox, and quality cooking equipment. On the first floor is a living room, with comfy modern sofa, flat-screen HD TV and dual aspect windows with a view over to Lady Herbert’s Garden. Guests can also view the original stone arch of the gatehouse from this floor. On the second floor is a large double bedroom and a generously sized bathroom, with a large luxury shower. Guest access On the morning of arrival guests will be issued with a unique digital door code for the duration of their stay. Please note check-in is from 4pm and check out is 11am.
