Pond-side Retreat
Tranquil and quiet, our tiny home sits next to a spring fed pond in a meadow at the edge of the redwood forest. If solitude and natural beauty just a five-minute drive from the town of Mendocino is what you're after, you've found the spot. Watch a heron stalk crawdads while you enjoy morning coffee, or a deer graze in the tall grass during an evening libation on the tiny deck. Whether you need a great base to explore the coast, or a solitary creative retreat, we look forward to hosting you. It's a tiny house, so it's tiny, just 8' by 20' with an 8'x 10' deck outside the front door. The pass-throughs are narrow and the sleeping loft is accessed by ladder-like stairs. That said, it has all the luxurious amenities and comfort of a larger place with a new queen-sized bed, complete kitchen, quality linens, high speed internet, a yoga mat, games, and books. Because of local wildlife and roaming cats, your dog must be leashed when out of doors. Poop-bags are available, as well as a doggie water bowl and fleecy bed upon request. A nice dog park at the Rec Center in Mendocino allows for romping off leash. This space is not suitable for children under 12. Feel free to roam anyplace outside the fenced areas. Because we share the property with skunks, fox, deer, bear and an occasional mountain lion, please don't go exploring after dark. Sorry, the pond is not available for swimming-- humans or their pets--but the pond-side picnic table and chairs are yours to enjoy. The hosts live on the property and are available to visit, answer questions, and field any problems -- in person or via text. However, it's pretty easy to pretend we're not here if you prefer privacy. We're fine either way. The property borders Jackson State Forest and is frequently visited by wildlife. It's also conveniently located just two miles from the village of Mendocino if you need a run to the local market or want to explore the galleries and eateries. It's a great starting place for mountain bike trails in the area. The parking spot is just past the tiny house, near the deck. Once you turn off Little Lake onto our lane the speed limit is 15 MPH. Please slow down through the neighborhood! Also, our cat is on site so be especially watchful when on our driveway.
