As our guests, we know you will enjoy hiking and bird watching through the acres of trees or fishing in the stream that ambles through the backyard. This is a peaceful setting that allows you to fully rest and rejuvenate during your time in Maine. Hosted by Of Sea and Pine, Granite House is a newly renovated home that sleeps 6 adults comfortably, with additional (futon) sleeping spaces for 2-3 children. On the main floor you will find an open concept floor plan with a modern, fully stocked kitchen, complete with a four-person breakfast bar, and a dining area that seats 8. The great room has two distinct areas to relax and unwind. The first area has a comfy sectional sofa with room enough for everyone to cozy up and watch a movie or borrow a book from the built-in bookcases and enjoy a lazy afternoon. The other seating area faces a massive granite fireplace and is the perfect place for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. With floor to ceiling windows there is never a shortage of natural light flowing into all areas of the house and you'll be captivated by the spectacular views from sunrise to sunset. The main floor also offers two bedrooms and a bonus loft bedroom/playroom (with pull-down stair access). There is one full bathroom on the main floor complete with spa tub. The lower level has a third bedroom, another full bathroom, a laundry room, indoor water fountain, game area (with shuffleboard and darts), and a workstation. Descend the natural granite steps on the lower level to access the screened-in wrap around porch. Enjoy meals al fresco on the porch, which is large enough for everyone to gather to eat, play board games or simply take a nap in the tranquil atmosphere. Outside there is a seating area next to a small pond, a grill, and plenty of meadows & forest to explore. Granite House is off the beaten path yet an easy drive to many neighboring towns and popular restaurants, breweries, beaches, and tourist destinations. Brunswick is the closest major town. Spend the day exploring the many cultural offerings of Bowdoin College, which include the Maine State Music Theatre, Bowdoin College Museum of Art and Harriet Beacher Stowe House or simply stroll through the campus to admire the historic buildings dating back to 1794. Along Brunswick’s Main Street you will find many independent boutiques, spas, restaurants and pubs, all part of a dynamic and friendly community. Head east into the heart of the Midcoast region to explore quintessential coastal towns like Bath (25 minutes) and home to BIW and the Maine Maritime Museum; Wiscasset is only 30 minutes away and home of the famous “Red Eats” lobster roll. A little further east is the picturesque town of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor (1 hour east) home to the Maine State Botanical Gardens as well as a bustling waterfront that offers ferries to nearby islands and whale watching tours. Head 25 minutes south to explore Freeport’s outlet shopping including Patagonia, North Face and LL Beans’ flagship store (which is open 24 hours!) The city of Portland (35 minutes) has a working waterfront and has an abundance of world-renowned restaurants as well as museums & galleries, shopping and entertainment. While in Portland, make sure to visit Portland Headlight, the most photographed lighthouse in all of Maine.
