Almunia de Arrabal House.
Description
A renovated townhouse that retains its essence and enjoys the Mediterranean light through its 14 windows. With a 180º terrace-viewpoint overlooking the Mediterranean, the Salobreña valley, the rooftops of the historic center, and the Sierra Nevada mountains. It has a simple and cozy decoration that gives the house an air of serenity. And for sea lovers, it's about a 20/25 minute walk. The space Almunia de Arrabal, due to its exterior appearance, looks like another village house because it faithfully reproduces the volume and shapes of yesteryear. It has the soul of works made in stages, so typical of popular architecture. Inside, it combines traditional tiled floors with gray-brown marble from Sierra Elvira, high ceilings with wooden beams and rails with aged iron finishes, all enhanced with designer furniture that makes it unique and personal. The decor is simple and cozy thanks to the fact that it has few elements, but they are very well chosen. The house has been given an air of serenity by local artisans and recycled materials. The house is distributed on two floors with 14 windows and a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, the port of Motril, the Vega de Salobreña, and the Sierra Nevada mountains. The windows create a feeling of spaciousness next to the high ceilings and the warmth of the beams. On the ground floor, we access from the entrance to a hall that serves as a cozy living room, presided over by the wrought iron main door, from where you can see the pedestrian street and its walkers. A hallway leads to the first master bedroom with direct access to a typical Andalusian patio On the same floor, there is a full bathroom, renovated in warm and natural tones, and an alcove bedroom that has linen curtains to create an intimate space. We access the second floor through a spacious and comfortable staircase. On the left, we find the second bathroom that follows the same lines of a clean and natural design in earth and bone white tones. The third bedroom has a balcony window that filters the Mediterranean light, and is a small viewpoint over a steep street that leads to the lowest part of the village. Continuing on the second floor, to the right of the stairs, the hallway leads us to a large kitchen, with modern equipment, combined with high ceilings, beams and traditional balcony windows that are true stained glass windows to the rooftops and gardens of the historic center. Another of its jewels is the terrace-viewpoint, from where you can have breakfast listening to the song of the swallows, see the sunrise or at dusk watch the red moon rise over the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. The 180º views of the Mediterranean, the Salobreña valley, the rooftops of the historic center, and the Sierra Nevada mountains can be enjoyed. Other things to note The streets surrounding the house are mostly pedestrian, very quiet. Parking is usually available on the street. During high season (summer and Christmas), finding a spot can be more difficult and you may need to park in the lower part of the city. But don't be discouraged; even then, most of the time, you can find a space at the top. The streets are narrow with many tight turns; therefore, a large SUV would not be recommended. One of the main access streets to the old town is about 50 meters from the house. Parking is available nearby, in this area or in the Market parking lot going up Nuestra Señora Del Rosario Street.
