Description
Soeun House is a typical Joseon-era residence of the yangban (scholarly elite) and is recognized as a cultural heritage resource of South Gyeongsang Province. This traditional house is the oldest building in Toero Village, Miryang and is located in the center of the village. The hot tourist site Wi-yangji is only a 5-minute drive away, and the historic Lee clan mansions in Toero along with sites within Toero Village are within a 10-minute walk. There are also restaurants and cafes nearby. The space * Guestroom & Bathroom: The guestroom—part of the main building of the Soeun House—comes with an exclusively attached modern-style bathroom. * Cooking Facilities: There is no kitchen, and indoor cooking is prohibited. However, you can heat food using the microwave. (Breakfast is provided, a barbecue area in the yard is available for rent, and there are popular local restaurants and brunch cafes in the village.) But, breakfast is provided Only on Saturday and Sunday to the guests who stay more than 3 days (they will be get discounted rates ) * Views from windows: The accommodation features two windows facing different directions. One window overlooks the spacious yard of the inner wing, while the other offers views of the garden and the outdoors. When you open the garden-facing window, you can enjoy the sight of plum blossoms (in early March) and fruits (May–June), as well as a full view of Hwaak Mountain that embraces the village—providing a healing experience as if you were surrounded by lush, green mountains. * Heating & Hot Water: Hot water and heating are provided by an oil boiler (with the boiler controller located in the room). * Air Conditioning: In the summer, cooling is handled by a dedicated air conditioner. * Internet & TV: Free wireless internet is available, and no TV is provided. * Free Parking: You may park upto three cars in front of the main gate of the house at free of charge. Guest access * Courtyards and Gardens: You can stroll and enjoy the inner building’s courtyard, the Sarangchae courtyard, the courtyard between the inner building and Sarangchae, as well as three additional gardens. * Outdoor Barbecue Facility: An outdoor barbecue area is available for rent. (Rental fee: 25,000 KRW, which includes a barbecue grill, tongs, charcoal, and a table.) * Main Wooden Veranda (Daechungmaru): On the cool, spacious wooden veranda of the main building, you can sit and enjoy tea while admiring the grand and ornate architecture of this traditional house—including its large beams, rafters, and decorative ceiling details. The wooden floor is 200 years old, so it naturally shows slight cracks and faded wood, offering an authentic glimpse into traditional living. If you wish to experience a tea ceremony on the veranda, please inform the host in advance, as this space is a common area that also contains the host’s personal belongings. You can also sample traditional herbal teas, such as mint tea made from herbs harvested directly from the house’s garden. * Hanbok Rental: Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) is available for adults and children (both boys and girls) at a rate of 5,000 KRW per hour. Other things to note This historic house is a registered cultural property. Please be mindful of fire hazards and avoid any alterations that could damage it. Please note that the guest room across from the main building is not completely sealed or soundproof. A simple breakfast is provided. Each guest will receive one bottle of water and one towel. Please separate and sort your trash for recycling. Cooking meals inside the room is prohibited. If you wish to grill meat, please use the barbecue area in the yard. (A rental package—including a grill, charcoal, tongs, disposable plates, chopsticks, and a table—is available for 25,000 KRW.) Excessive drinking and playing videos at high volumes are not allowed (please note that the village is very quiet after sunset). Do not dispose of anything in the toilet other than the provided toilet paper (for example, latex, diapers, sanitary pads, food waste, chicken bones, etc.). If the toilet becomes clogged due to your negligence, you will be responsible for unclogging it or covering the repair costs (which range from 50,000 to 100,000 KRW). While the host continuously strives to maintain the cleanliness and comfort of Soeun House, please keep in mind that, as a historic residence, it may not offer the same level of modern convenience as an apartment or hotel.
