We opened in 2010 and are on one of the last truly secluded and tranquil corners of the island where our neighbors still go out on fishing boats everyday. This is where you go to unplug and have a taste of the original Phu Quoc before the mega-developments arrived (it still exists!) We recently re-opened after pausing for almost 3 years due to Covid and are excited to welcome guests back to our special little beachfront hideaway. Borrow our yoga mats, eat traditional Vietnamese homecooking from our kitchen, swim in the crystal clear water of our private beach, take one of our kayaks out to nearby Fingernail Island, where there is some of the best snorkeling around, and if you need to have a Zoom meeting, you can do that too, there's a desk and high speed Wifi in every room. That said, many of our guests say that what they love most about staying here is that it's a great place to feel part of a little Vietnamese family and to do pretty much nothing at all. We are in a small bay (Vung Bau Bay) about a 45 minute drive from the main town of Duong Dong, there's not much right around us, except a few other small guesthouses, and paradoxically one of the largest amusements parks in Southeast Asia, VinWonders (about a 15 minute drive). The study in contrast is kind of beyond words. Despite all of the changes to the island over the years, our little stretch of beach and the people around us remain mostly the same. Covid was hard for big tourism, but it was good for Mother Nature and for slowing things down. I haven't seen the coral reef near the cottages this healthy in years and Vung Bau Bay now resembles again what we first encountered when we arrived here almost 20 years ago! Come see for yourself. :-)
