Description

Sleep in the heart of Scottish Wildcat territory. Muckle Meadow is a warm fortress against the elements with underfloor heating and deep silence. Watch the Cairngorms weather roll in from your private deck, or view the landscape like living art through panoramic glass. Tucked into the elevated corner of our smallholding, you enjoy a private, peaceful retreat. Just you, the deer, and the rarest predator in Britain. A true sanctuary to hibernate while the world freezes. The space The Vibe: Small but Mighty We built this pod in 2023 to be a 21-square-metre escape pod. It is intimate, open-plan, and designed for couples who actually like each other. If you want sprawling hallways, book a castle. If you want to watch the mist rise off the mountains while staying toasty in bed, book here. The Deck: Your Second Living Room The pod feels twice as big when you throw open the double glass doors. This isn't just a balcony; it’s your private observation platform. It connects seamlessly with the interior, letting you step out to spot the red squirrels or drink your morning coffee in the fresh Highland air. It effectively doubles your living space. The Kitchen Compact & Capable We have a kitchenette designed for "holiday cooking," not a Christmas banquet. The Gear: A double electric hob (perfect for a fry-up or pasta), a 900w microwave with a grill function, a kettle, and a cafetiere. The Reality: You have everything you need to cook proper meals, just without a full-sized oven. The Strategy: Keep it simple. Cook a fresh breakfast, spend the day exploring, and come back for a simple stovetop dinner or a glass of wine on the deck. The Sleeping Arrangements The King-size bed is the star of the show. We use a high-quality duvet and offer both firm and soft pillows because life is too short for neck ache. The bed faces the glass doors, so you don't even have to get up to enjoy the view. The Bathroom It’s a proper ensuite. Enclosed shower, heated towel rail (essential for Scottish winters), toilet, and sink. You get the wild location without having to rough it. The Tech We have fast, reliable WiFi and a 24-inch HD TV. You can stay connected, but we recommend turning it all off and watching the deer instead. The "Essentials" Starter Pack We provide a survival kit to get you through the first night: tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, and washing-up gear. Please remember this is self-catering; we get you started, but you’ll need to do a shop for the rest. Other things to note Strict No-Pets Policy Because we are located next to a working farm, with livestock in the surrounding fields (and sensitive wildlife like the wildcats nearby), we have a strict no-pets policy. Thank you for understanding. Packing & Access The pod is set in an elevated position to maximize the views. Access is via a 60-metre sloping path from the parking area. We strongly recommend wearing suitable footwear and packing in soft bags or backpacks rather than heavy, wheeled suitcases, which can be difficult to drag up the slope. Supermarket Logistics The nearest shop is the Co-op in Newtonmore (4 miles away). It is open until 10pm, so even if you have a long drive, you can still pick up dinner and essentials before heading up to the pod. Mobile Signal & WiFi While we provide fast WiFi in the pod, mobile signal in the Highlands can be patchy depending on your provider. EE tends to have the best coverage in this specific area. We recommend enabling "WiFi Calling" on your phone once you arrive. Shoe Strategy We are surrounded by beautiful nature, which often means mud! We recommend bringing indoor slippers to keep your pod cozy and clean, and leaving muddy boots on the mat or the deck. Winter & Safety The deck can get slippery when wet or icy. Please take care when stepping out to enjoy the view. If you are booking for winter (Nov-March), please note the track can get snowy. While we clear it, winter tires are highly recommended for safe travel in the Highlands. Registration Details HI-70331-F
