Description

Old Florida at its best, water and nature! Bring your boat and your dog (sorry, no cats). Explore, or just sit on the comfortable screened porch, out on the private floating dock, or around the fire pit on cooler evenings. Are you an avid sportsman, fisherman? Flying Eagle Wildlife Management Area is right behind us. A private community boat ramp right next door. Five miles to Inverness and 30 minutes to Crystal River. This is the perfect central Florida location with so many things to see! The space This vintage Florida cottage was lovingly renovated with all the modern amenities. Set on a fenced lot, just under a 1/2 acre, with floating dock on a small private cove (affectionately called Dead Boat Cove). Bring your fishing pole, canoe, bass, pontoon, mud, or air boat. The cove is off of a canal that leads to the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes. This is truly old Florida! There is a private community boat ramp just at the end of the street. There is also a public boat ramp, parking, approximately 4 miles west on 44, on Big Lake Henderson. If you are bringing your boat, please let me know so I can give you the combination to the boat ramp lock. Your boat can be tied and secured to the private floating dock, so you don't have to pull your boat out nightly. There is plenty of room in the fenced and gated yard for two cars and a boat trailer. KAYAKS For your convince, two sit-on kayaks are provided. Both are Heritage Red Fish, one is 12' and the other 14'. US Coast Guard approved life jackets and safety equipment are stored in the dry compartments in each kayak. Owner assumes NO LIABILITY for use of the complementary kayaks. For your safety, NO swimming or wading in the water for humans or pets. This is Florida and we do have alligators. DOCK There are four chairs (with cushions in the dock box) on the dock to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There are lights over the dock that come on/off automatically at night, but also can be controlled by remote (the remote is labeled and is located on the side table in the living room). If you are lucky, the resident pair of barred owls (Hoot & Scoot) will come for a visit. PORCH The screened porch is a lovely place to have drinks, food, or read a good book and just relax! There is a vintage wrought iron dining table, with four chairs, and a bar cart. Two vintage rattan chairs provide comfortable seating. There are two ceiling fans and table lighting. Curtains can be closed for either privacy or sun. Outside the of the porch is a charcoal grill (please bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid). LIVING ROOM Inside the front door is the living room with vintage rattan seating, a bench below the window, vintage wrought iron breakfast table with two chairs, and a cabinet that contains board games and books. There is a smart TV mounted on the wall. KITCHEN Inside the front door, to the left, is a small but efficient kitchen. There is a full size refrigerator (with ice maker), small dishwasher, gas stove with oven, microwave over the stove, and butcher block countertops. On the countertop is a two slice toaster and drip coffee maker. There is a Seagull water purifier tap that is also hooked up to the ice maker. There are stainless steel pots and pans and cast iron skillet hanging on the pot rack next to stove. In the cabinet to the right of the microwave is salt, pepper and olive oil. In the cabinet over the coffee maker is an electric kettle, with starter coffee, teas, and sugar. Under the sink are dishwasher tablets, rinse aid, trash liners, spray cleaner, glass cleaner, fire extinguishers, and bug spray. BATHROOM Down the hall is the bathroom with tub and shower. The shower has a hand held shower head, with Dr. Bronner Castile soap, and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. In the hanging cabinet is a hair dryer, first aid kit, tissues, q-tips, and cotton balls. Under the sink is extra toilet paper, trash liners, spray cleaner, and air freshener. 1st BEDROOM The bedroom at the end of the hall has a queen bed, two nightstands, lighting, dresser, tall storage cabinet, chair, and ceiling fan. Inside the closet are hangers, two luggage racks, and an extra blanket. There is a full length mirror behind the door, and a smart TV. 2nd BEDROOM The other bedroom has a king bed, two nightstands, lighting, chair, and ceiling fan. In the closet are hangers, two luggage racks, extra blanket, iron, clothes steamer, distilled water and an ironing board, The king can be converted to a pair of XL twin beds (before you arrive, please let me know if I need to convert the king bed to twins). There is a full length mirror behind the door and a smart TV. THE COTTAGE IS ALL ONE LEVEL, BUT THE KING BEDROOM HAS ONE STEP DOWN. UTILITY ROOM Off of the king bedroom is a utility room with a washer and gas dryer. Over the dryer is a drying bar and clothes hangers. In the closet is plant-based laundry detergent, laundry basket, plunger, and broom with dust pan, and fire extinguisher. PETS Sorry, but due to allergies we do not allow cats. We allow two dogs per stay, with a weight limit of 30 pounds or under, and have a pet fee of $25.00. We have hard surface flooring and no carpet, so please bring soft bedding for your babies, as we do not allow pets on furniture or beds. Our yard is fenced and we have a gate that closes, but there is no fence along the waters edge. Again, please do not allow your dogs to wade or swim. OWNERS COTTAGE There is a small private cottage and workshop on the property that is enclosed behind a privacy fence. We are travelers but will occasionally be present. You may see us come and go (walking or bike riding out the driveway), but we FULLY respect the privacy of our guests, and interaction is completely up to you! But please, DO NOT hesitate to contact me with any needs or concerns. Enjoy your stay at Dead Boat Cove! Susan Guest access There are two doors that lead to the screened porch. There is a Ring doorbell on the front screen door (on the driveway side). There is no Ring doorbell on the side by the grill. There are no other cameras on the property. Your privacy is fully respected and we want you to enjoy your time here. The key is located in the black lock box that is mounted to the left of the green front door. The combination will be provided the day before check-in. Guests have full access to cottage and property (house, yard, dock, boat ramp, and kayaks). Other things to note At this time we are in drought, and unfortunately our water level is down about 4’. At this time, the only access to Big Lake Henderson is by using the public boat ramp on 44, but you will be able to use air boats from our dock.
