Charming Cottage, Petit Manan

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway! Situated on Pigeon Hill Peninsular/Steuben with open views of the bay and Bois Buburt isle, this lovely cottage has three bedrooms - king, queen, and twin; a tiled bathroom and new 1/2 bath. Dryer, Dishwasher. Good WIFI access. Food shopping in Milbridge and some restaurants nearby. Within walking distance to Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge and hiking on Pigeon Hill, the cottage is part of a small, peaceful community of summer and year-round homes The space Comfortable for our guests, and it reflects our housekeeper’s strict standards. Guest access Large driveway solely for guests’ use. Other things to note We love the openness of the area, as many of these cottages are surrounded by forest (which tends to be more typical in northern Maine). This gives us the advantage of knowing our neighbors, and giving and receiving a wave and a smile! Down East Maine offers a tidbit of charm different from other areas on the coast. Abundant wildlife, eagles, heron, seal and puffin – wild blueberries in August and September; amazing ocean hiking trails – island to island kayaking – antiquing -- and of course, those famous lobsters and lobster rolls! All rolled into one very nice package of easy access and renowned Maine hospitality. With world-famous Bar Harbor and Cadillac mountain just an hour+ away, Pigeon Hill is the perfect jumping off point for all kinds of outdoor activities, whether they are exploring the back roads by car or foot, or the ocean by kayak. The hiking and biking trails at Schoodic Point, in Acadia National Park on the Mainland, are 18 miles away. In Jonesport there is hiking on Great Wass Island, and in Cutler, the Bold Coast trail.And if you like to stargaze, at night the sky is totally black and those stars just pop -- Bring your spotter or binoculars! But of course, you don't have to be active on your vacation -- just sitting on the deck enjoying the peace and quiet, watching for the eagles, or perhaps merely enjoying a novel, goes a long way to emptying the mind of clutter and replenishing the spirit. Excellent renovation job!! We were all very comfortable and enjoyed the games as well as sitting on the deck and lots of great dinners around the table. We loved picking blueberries up the road and made yummy pancakes and blueberry syrup. The Hollingsworth and Birch trails are just exquisite!
