Other things to note The house is a simple cottage, built in 1942, surrounded by forest and creeks and phenomenal views of the Columbia River Gorge. It has been thoughtfully and lovingly cared for, and is a continuing work in progress. Care has been taken to maintain much of the original charm, and it has all of the basic amenities. Fun fact: avid outdoorsman and silver-screen star, Clark Gable, stayed on the property in the 1920s! Outdoors: Stevenson gets 80 inches of rain a year, with 165 rainy days per year. The views can wax and wane within minutes. During the short days of winter, it is strongly recommended to check-in before sunset. Some other things: - The property is 2 acres extending over the ridge to the west and the south slope. - There can be no outdoor fires without a fire permit by order of the county fire marshal and no outdoor fires for anyone after June 1. - Wildlife includes elk, deer, wild turkeys, quail, numerous regional and seasonal birds. Coyotes, foxes, and bobcats have been spotted in the area less commonly. Feel free to take photos, no hunting permitted. Sometimes, the wildlife comes indoors--the occasional insect or spider is part of the experience. - On the main deck, there are several seating options, available including rocking Adirondack chairs. - There is a small charcoal grill in the basement, let me know ahead of time if you plan on using it. Kitchen: - The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the tools you need for cooking--pots and pans, knives, silverware, etc. There is a dishwasher for your use as well. - For coffee, I use the pour over method usually. A manual grinder for beans is available as well as a small coffee maker and a French press. Living area: - You are welcome to use the fireplace. Firewood is available for purchase at the local grocery store. - The carpet and furniture in the living room is white. Please remove your shoes and use caution with beverages. - There is a WiFi Sonos sound system. In order to operate you need to download the Sonos app onto your smartphone then you can play music from your smartphone. - There is a ductless system for keeping cool in the summer and a furnace for keeping warm in the winter. Bathroom: - The house has city water, but is on a septic system. Nothing but bath tissue should be flushed. - There is a bathtub with a showerhead. There is no standup shower. - Bath towels and face towels are provided. Bedroom: - There is a queen size bed. - Feel free to hang your clothes in the built-in closet, or use the built-in drawers. - There are light blocking curtains if you want to sleep in! Den: - This room has a queen size pull-out sofa bed. - The flatscreen HDTV has a Blu ray disc player and Roku with Netflix. There is also a sound bar for better quality audio. - Feel free to open the sliding glass window to the second deck for a cross breeze. Basement: - Primarily for storage and laundry. Feel free to go down there if you want but not much to see.
