Description

Discover a hidden gem just minutes from Shaver Lake AND Huntington Lake! Welcome to the 4-bedroom / 2-bath, tree-shaded Ponderosa Cabin, situated in the heart of Camp Sierra – a 100-year-old family-friendly community of privately owned cabins and campground lodges overlooking the scenic Big Creek Canyon. Enjoy a weekend (or a whole week at 25% off!) in this off-the-beaten-path slice of paradise tucked away in the Sierra National Forest. The space Walk out your front door to access family-and-dog-friendly hiking trails with stunning canyon views, or drive 10 minutes to get to Shaver Lake. Within a few hundred feet of your front door, you’ll also have access to a children’s playground, ping-pong tables, a sports field, and a basketball hoop. Also within walking distance is a natural wading pool (great for small kids!) and a waterfall with natural granite water slides (great for big kids!). You’ll also be right next to the trailhead for the ¾-mile hike down to The Potholes, a series of naturally formed pools fed by Big Creek that are connected to each other by gentle waterfalls. The famous Potholes provide endless hours of sliding, jumping, swimming and fishing! The Ponderosa Cabin is the perfect place to get away from it all with friends or family. The 2-story, 1,400-square-foot cabin sleeps up to 14 people! The cabin features a Great Room with a cozy stone fireplace, a breakfast bar, TV, and dining table. You can also enjoy your meals outside on one of two picnic tables – one through the sliding-glass doors to the back of the cabin; and the other on the elevated front deck featuring great views of the camp and the canyon. The cabin has 2 full bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) and 4 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 (on the main floor): A queen bed and a set of bunk beds, with a connected bathroom. Sleeps 4. Bedroom 2 (upstairs): 2 sets of bunkbeds. Sleeps 4. Bedroom 3 (upstairs): 2 sets of bunkbeds. Sleeps 4. Bedroom 4 (upstairs): A queen bed. Sleeps 2. Ponderosa Cabin has a well-stocked kitchen with a coffee maker and coffee supplies, as well as plenty of dishes and pots and pans. A washer and dryer are located on the main floor. If you’re not familiar with the area, here’s a great tip: On summer weekends, Shaver Lake can get crowed. Thankfully, at Ponderosa Cabin, you’ll be less than 20 minutes from the much more secluded (and even more beautiful!) Huntington Lake, where you can rent boats, kayaks, paddleboards, and enjoy a burger and beer on the deck overlooking the lake at The Grill restaurant. You’re also less than 30 minutes from China Peak Ski Resort and less than 20 minutes from publicly accessible snow parks (at 7,000 feet elevation) where’s there’s snow all winter long.
