Casita Margarita was built from the ground up in 2023 with the help of locals from our Bay Bahia Grande. A fully equipped bungalow awaits you with all amenities, such as a king and a queen-size bed (max. 4 people), kitchen with stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, ect. A bathroom equipped with warm water with a shower, washbasin and toilet according to modern standards. Because we are an Eco-Lodge, we do not use air conditioning. Our Casita Margarita was designed to have a gentle breeze flowing through the house with the wind that blows most of the bay. There is also a ceiling fan and two portable fans available. You will love spending time on the terrace or by the sea and dreamily looking into the bay or the distant mountains. We are looking forward to welcome you as our guest! In addition to the Casita Margarita, our over-the-water cabana is also available. Equipped with two comfortable chairs with a small table, hammock and evening lighting. Because we live on the same property, we are always at your disposal, but we will stay in the background whenever possible so that you can fully enjoy your holiday. Big Bay Bocas Eco-Lodge is very close to the little village of Bahia Grande. The people in the village belong to the indigenous tribe Ngäbe, who are located in the whole provinz of Bocas del Toro, Veraguas and Chiriqui and also in the southwest of Costa Rica. The village is located on a small hill and down along the mangroves, there are around 40 people living in the village. There are around 15 Houses built out of lumber, a primary school, a church, a kiosco and a large grass court, where they play Football or Baseball together. Whenever we need help regarding construction or materials, if it is possible, we are always working with the local people from the village. The people are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces, when you see them sail in their Cajucos (Local Canoe). It makes us very happy to be surrounded by this friendly and helpful people and the healthy nature of Bahia Grande. We live on an island that can only be reached by boat. The best, cheapest and easiest way to get to us is if we come to pick you up with our boat called "Lotti". Pick up in Almirante: $60 (Round Trip, around 20 minutes) Pick up in Bocas Town: $65 (Round Trip, around 25 minutes) *if you stay more than 7 nights, Pick Up and Drop Off is for free! On the island of San Cristobal there are no shops and no restaurants within walking distance. When we pick you up, we will show you the best shopping opportunities, give you time to stock up and then we will set off together to Bahia Grande, where our dogs Luna and Rio will happily welcome you. *Breakfast and Dinner on request.
