Description
This cozy, artsy, cabin, close to Green sand and Black sand beach, has a toilet with bidet and an open air bathtub with a nice shower. In the fully equipped kitchen is a large, new fridge, a two burner stove and a sink. Hanging chair, Lou chef, vintage chairs and two tables under the gazebo at the kitchen. The cabin is harmonious and bright with an ocean view from the deck and bed. The bed has LINEN sheets, and down comforter. Romantic Solar string lights. Lush greenery and flowers. The space Located in the balmy, Southern part of Hawaii, The Big Island, is Mark Twain; a unique subdivision with narrow, gravel roads and very few cars, where many pioneering women and men live in their own unique, free-style ways. A place where friendly people look out for each other. Your stroll through the neighborhood will feel like old times when nobody rushed, people greeted you, and traffic was rare. Lush tropical greenery and floral scents are plentiful within Mark Twain where the climate is perfect. It is usually sunny, with blue skies and a nice breeze during the day, and a bit of rain at night. You will be close to the pristine surf beach at Kawaa, where it is usually very quiet. There is a place in this area where you can fill up your bottle with clean spring-fed water flowing from the rocks. My place is close to the paved road and is easy to find, and its proximity to surrounding attractions is ideal. In less than 10 minutes, you will find yourself at the farmer’s market, bank, local restaurants and post office. The Kilauea volcano, in Volcanoes National Park is only a 40 minute drive from my home. Whittington Park where you can swim is a 10 minute drive. Sandy beautiful Hookena Bay Beach is a 45 minute drive and Punaluu Black Sand beach where you also can swim is about a 20 minutes drive. You can see turtles basking on that beach. We have two farmers markets per week in Naalehu on Wednesdays and Fridays. In Oceanview we have a Saturday farmer’s market/swap meet and there are also two Supermarkets and a few restaurants. And a bar with music, often outside. Very nice. South Point is a 15 minute drive and from there you can walk to the famous and pristine Green Sands Beach. This walk will take about an hour and a half, and along the way you will see a myriad of drift wood, rock formations and coral until you reach the amazing green sand beach, glistening with pure olivine. You are able to swim here, safely. Instead of walking you can buy a ride to Green Sand beach from local 4-wheel drive truck drivers. Hookena Beach, famous for dolphins and whales visiting the bay, is just a 45 minute drive. The water is bright light blue, the cliffs impressive, the sandy beach so soft, boogie board surf, snorkeling, shade trees, showers and toilets make this the ideal beach to spend many hours on. I have a cooler and ice for you for such an occasion. There are also rain forrest hiking trails. Close by is beautiful Manuka Park for those so inclined. Upon arriving at the property, you will be greeted by my lovable dog, Luna and the brothers Ginger and Snappy; my orange cat brothers. The chickens and chicks are free-range and are fun to feed and watch. I’m sure you will enjoy the many colorful birds and butterflies. My guests have access pretty much everywhere on the property. You could walk to the goat pasture if you like. I have found that feeding the goats little snacks like papaya peels in their smiley mouths is something my guests enjoy. There is no traffic when walking out of the gate; for people who like to walk it’s perfect in Mark Twain. Lush and quiet. Our county water is fed by an underground water table, making it the best in the state. I put the water then through the ceramic water filter on the kitchen counter. No need to buy bottled water. Great for drinking. Available for your use is a two person hammock on a stand to sunbathe and relax and an on the go hammock that you can take out and about with you. The cabin comes equipped with pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils etcetera, and a blender. Organic cotton bed sheets and towels are provided. There is a good internet connection. Your first morning you can order a delicious healthy breakfast for a small donation. After that you can still order breakfast. And other foods if you wish. All is Home made and most ingredients are from my happy organic little farm. All my guests have loved the foods. All my guests have loved the bed also. The cabin creates good sleep apparently. Taking a hot bath with Epson salt under the stars is a lovely experience also. Guest access Right outside my gate you can walk for hours on the quiet gravel roads in our agricultural subdivision. No traffic. Safe and beautiful. Lots of greenery. My guests are welcome to walk to the goat pasture if they like. Feeding my goats little snacks like papaya peels etcetera in their smiley mouths is something my guests have liked. . I have my own separate kitchen where I make meals, cheese, sourdough bread, chocolate etcetera. I have a big covered deck at my house where my guests would be welcome at times to talk story. My beautiful dog Luna will most likely visit you as will my pretty cats Ginger and Snappy. Other things to note I have learned to prepare and create all kinds of superfoods, such as sourdough bread, goat cheeses, mayonnaise, dark chocolate, banana bread, jelly, Noni, pesto, hummus, etc. No sugar is used in any of it; only honey from my own bee hives, or Maple syrup. Produce such as greens, herbs from my gardens, seasonal fruits, and farm fresh eggs are usually available for purchase. I grow Comfrey which is used to fix muscles and pains. It’s also called “knit bone”. It works amazing. You may ask me to prepare this for you. If you wish me to prepare breakfast or any meals please ask me. It will be but a small charge. If you wish to order breakfast, please let me know the night before.
