Le Havre du Navigateur overlooking the river in Deschaillons
Description
Cozy ancestral home in Deschaillons, with spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River. Here, we come to slow down: watch the ships from the panoramic living room upstairs, cook with the family, enjoy the sheltered hot tub, make a fire at sunset, and walk to the beach. A well-equipped, clean and charming house, ideal for families and small, quiet groups. The space Le Havre du Navigateur is an ancestral house built in 1895, formerly inhabited by families of sailors. With its 9-foot ceilings, woodwork, separate rooms and floors that can creak, it has retained its village house soul. It will especially appeal to guests who love old, comfortable, and lively houses. On the ground floor, the living room offers a cozy space to relax after a day out. The Roku smart TV allows you to use your own streaming subscriptions, and a collection of movies is also available. The kitchen, with its marble countertops, is very well equipped for preparing real meals with family or friends, with everything you need to cook, serve, and take the time to eat together. The house has four bedrooms. One bedroom with a queen bed is located on the ground floor, convenient for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. Upstairs, one bedroom with a queen bed, one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with two single beds can comfortably accommodate a family or a small group. A full bathroom with a tub/shower and a washer-dryer is on the ground floor, and a small shower room is available upstairs. One of the most popular rooms is the panoramic living room upstairs, with its large window directly overlooking the river. It's the perfect place to read, work remotely, do a puzzle, or just watch the ships pass by. A desk, chair, monitor and fast internet connection also allow you to work with an inspiring view. Families also enjoy the games room, equipped with table football, an air hockey table, and board games. On rainy days or quiet evenings, it is a space that allows young and old to unwind without a screen. Outside, you'll find a large plot of about 24,000 sq. ft. with a view of the river, a patio with a dining table and BBQ, a fire pit with Adirondack chairs, a hammock under the apple tree, and a pirate ship-shaped play module with a water cannon for the kids. The spa is located in a rustic garage, protected from the elements, allowing you to enjoy it more comfortably in any season. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, the patio, the garage where the spa is located, the backyard, the fire pit, the outdoor play area, and the driveway. The basement, attic, utility closet, and shed are not accessible to guests. For safety reasons, it is also forbidden to go down to the river beyond the rope: the slope is steep and dangerous. Other things to note Le Havre du Navigateur is an ancestral village house. It is clean, comfortable, and full of charm, but it retains the characteristics of an old house: floors that can creak, separate rooms, woodwork, and a warm atmosphere rather than new, standardized decor. This ancestral house is not suitable for people with limited mobility, balance problems, or difficulty using stairs. All entrances have a few outdoor steps. One bedroom, the full bathroom and the games room are located on the ground floor. The other three bedrooms, the panoramic living room and a shower room are upstairs, accessible by a staircase that is steeper than in a contemporary building. The bathroom includes a standard combination tub and shower and does not have any special features for people with limited mobility. The accommodation is better suited for independent travelers who are steady on their feet and fully comfortable with steps and stairs. The house is designed for personal, family, or tourist stays, with a focus on rest and respect for the place. It is not suitable for construction site stays, work teams, or use as an operational base. We prefer guests who want to enjoy the river, the house and the area in a peaceful setting. The house is located in a quiet residential area, with neighbors nearby. It is especially suitable for families and small, quiet groups who want to enjoy the river, the spa, the outdoor fire and peaceful moments. It is not intended for parties, noisy gatherings, or stays focused on evening entertainment. The back property has spectacular views of the river, but it is not fenced. The courtyard extends toward a steep slope leading to the river; therefore, young children must be carefully supervised outdoors. The main living room is comfortable, but the house is better suited for families or small groups than for eight adults who all want to spend the evening sitting together in the same living room. The spaces are divided between the living room, dining room, game room, panoramic living room upstairs and the outside. The hot tub is located in the rustic garage, protected from the weather. It is therefore pleasant to use even when it rains or snows, but it does not offer a direct view of the river. The TV works with Roku and streaming apps. There is no traditional cable. You can use your own subscriptions such as Netflix, Prime, Disney+, ICI Toutv, TVA+ or Noovo. Outdoor amenities are seasonal. The patio, outdoor furniture, hammock, play module and fire pit are set up or accessible depending on the time of year, the weather and winter conditions. During winter, the fire pit area is not cleared of snow. Parking onsite is limited to 3 passenger vehicles for the entire group. The site is not suitable for large, commercial or professional vehicles. Check-in and check-out times are fixed and communicated before the stay. Access to the property is only possible during the scheduled period; no early access is offered. The base rate includes up to 4 people. Any additional person present on the premises, even for a single night, must be declared in the reservation. A fee per additional person applies beyond 4 guests.
