Description

Chalet Ty Tom is located in snow sure Turracher Hoehe at 1800m altitude the skiing is guaranteed for 6 months of the year. The village has a variety of hotels, restaurants, bars and mountain huts all gathered around an ice covered lake. Skiing, cross country skiing, toboganning, ice skating and snow shoe hikes are all possible. Summer activities available including walking, hiking, mountain bike trails and lake swims. The Nockiflitzer toboggan run and the Crystal Museum are open all year round. The space 4 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed and ensuite bathroom Bedroom 2 with double bed and ensuite bathroom Bedroom 3 with double bed and 2 bunk beds Bedroom 4 with 2 single beds In addition, main bathroom includes sauna and jacuzzi Guest access Sole occupancy of chalet per guest booking, together with adjacent parking and access to balconies and external store In winter season access to ski cellar to store boots and skiing/board equipment at Alpenpark reception located within 15 mins walk of 3 mins drive of chalet - centre of village, next to main lifts Please note: Christmas and New Year bookings are restricted to 7 nights minimum Other things to note Chalet Ty Tom Ski Essentials Arrival When arriving at the Alpenpark in Turracherhoehe you should have the key code (make sure you get it from us or the reception before you arrive). The front door key is in a small box to the left of the main entrance door and use the 4-figure code to open it and retrieve the key. Fireplace The fire in the chalet is automatic so will adjust to the temperature changes inside (if you open a window or door, it will automatically increase the flame to cope with the influx of cold air). Try not to alter it as it can be difficult to reset - you will probably need to call a technician from the reception if this is necessary. Wi-Fi Chalet Ty Tom has two Wi-Fi feeds. The control panel for these is in the boot room behind the large wall panel. Passwords are printed on the cupboard in the boot room and are also available in the information folder in the living room. If the Wi-Fi is not connecting, then try switching it off and then on at the main panel. It usually connects quite quickly. External balconies and store The solar light draped on the upper balcony balustrade will come on automatically at dusk. You can switch it off if you do not want it on. The swing chair on the lower balcony can be hung onto the chain hanging from the upper balcony beam. Cushions are inside downstairs wardrobes. Cushions for the steamer chairs and table chairs are also inside. The external store key is hanging on the key rack in the lower lobby. This is the only key, so please take care with it. Please use whatever you want from the store. There are sledges and toboggans and shovels for clearing snow - usually very important in the winter at this altitude. We frequently need to clear snow twice or even three times during a ski week. Ski Rental The Ski Rental shops are in a variety of locations in the village. Ski World is right next to the reception building and across from the Kornock Lift. Intersport (which offers 10% discount for Alpenpark guests) is on the other side of the lift behind Tom’s Pizzeria, and they also have another shop near the main beginners slopes further up in the village. To get your skis and boots you just fill in some details (height, weight, ski experience - beginner, intermediate or expert) and they will find you appropriate boots, skis, and poles. You will also need to hire a ski helmet, which are pretty much compulsory now. Just tell them how many days you want to ski for (usually six - Sunday through to Friday) and they will feed it all into their system. Most arrivals in the chalet go to the rental shops on the Sunday morning. Your skis and boots can all be stored in the basement under the reception building which saves you carrying them all back to the chalet – you will need the passcode for the entrance door (to be provided with check-in details). Just find a rack to put your skis and poles in and a boot holder for your ski boots - remember where you put them! Ski Passes There are ski pass counters at the bottom of the main Kornock Ski Lift. You will need to let them know how many days you want to ski for and if it is for an adult or a child. You will get a credit card ski pass to put in a chest or arm pocket. These automatically let you through the ski lift gates when you press the ski pass against the upper panel to your left. Best to pick up a ski map while you are there, and you usually get a free tissues too! If you return the pass (recycling) at the end of your week they will reimburse you 5 Euros. Ski Schools There are three ski schools in Turracherhoehe. Ski Schule Pertl, Skischule Snow Stars and Huskys. I have had good feedback on all three. Husky’s offices are located next to the reception building. The other two have their offices at the other end of the village adjacent to the main beginners’ slopes. Most lessons are from 10 to midday or from 2 to 4pm. Mornings are more popular for obvious reasons. Depending on your experience this will decide where you will have your lesson. There are beginner slopes in various locations across the village. As you grow in confidence you can start taking drag lifts and then chair lifts to the starter slopes - and then beyond. The instructors are invariably very patient and speak excellent English. I have found them to be excellent with both kids and adults. Most who have started out as beginners are skiing a number of the main slopes by the end of the week.
