This spacious and modern former mill property is set in the scenic village of Freshford, just 6 miles outside of Bath. Not only will you be positioned in an idyllic village with plenty of picturesque walks, a community run shop/cafe and a highly rated 16th Century coaching Inn, but you’ll also be a short 10 minute train ride away from historic Bath. The area is abundant in opportunities for wild-swimming, paddle-boarding, riding, cycling etc. The space The beautiful, modernly designed property has everything you could require for a restful, or adventurous, stay. There are four good sized double bedrooms (one super king and one king), 3 en-suite bathrooms, a fabulous kitchen with a coffee lounge area, a snug, and a huge living space for entertaining and relaxing. The property has a beautiful garden wrapping around the front and side, and a patio dining area off the kitchen. A balcony is accessible from the master bedroom, where you can sit and watch the sun rise over the valley whilst listening to the beautiful sounds of nature waking around the mill lake. The light-filled living area with double patio doors leading to the south facing garden provides a fabulous, flexible, sociable area. There is a large dining table, with seating for 8 and several areas just to relax. This is a family home and we are great lovers of games and books, which you are welcome to borrow during your stay. In the snug, there is a large TV with Playstation and exercise equipment, including a Peleton bike. The kitchen will be stocked with all essentials, and a welcome pack. Bikes, a fire pit, gas barbecue, canoe and paddle board can also be borrowed for a small charge. Guest access Letecombe Lodge is on a small development of houses, on a former mill site. There are two parking spaces in front of the garage, and plenty of extra guest parking. The river Avon runs adjacent to the development and there are walks right from the front door to the river, where you can regularly see the bright blue flash of kingfishers darting about. It is worth noting that the roads leading down to the property are quite steep, but please contact us if you have any concerns. Please also note that, whilst there is only limited construction going on at present, there is a further development site hoarded off at the rear of this property. Other things to note The village of Freshford lies at the junction of the Frome and Avon valleys. Located on the southernmost tip of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Freshford and the surrounding areas are truly sublime. You will be spoilt for choice with activities in this area. Why not amble along past the much photographed Avoncliff aquaduct (stopping for tea and cake in the Number 10 cafe or a locally brewed cider in the Cross Guns pub on the way) into historic Bradford on Avon, or explore Iford Manor and its beautiful gardens. Or the more adventurous can walk or cycle the (somewhat hilly!) 8 miles along the canal into Bath itself. Although the lure of Freshford will make it hard to leave, for those wanting to explore further, Freshford has its own train station (10-15 min walk from the property) where you can get an hourly train to Bath in under 10 minutes, or Bristol in 35 minutes. You really can easily abandon your car for the duration of your stay. However, there are many fabulous places to explore: Frome, Longleat, the Cathedral city of Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Salisbury and many National Trust properties are all within easy range for day visits.
