Villa Carcassonne is just over 10 minutes’ walk from Lake Cavayere, where you’ll find beaches, a picnic area and activities such as a tree top adventure course and boating available in the summer months. A 10 minute drive takes you to the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts over 4 million visitors a year. Perched on a rocky hilltop and complete with battlements and turrets, it looks like something out of a fairy tale from afar. Explore to your heart’s content before settling in one of the many restaurants or cafes of the citadel or new part of town. If the beach beckons, there are a multitude of sandy options beginning at an hour’s drive from the villa.
