This cottage has water all around. You wake up to a sunrise view over the Outer Banks & enjoy sunsets right from your backyard. Located at a walking distance from Cape Lookout National Seashore visitor center where you can easily grab a people ferry. Saltwater fishermen across North Carolina have long heard others espousing the joys of fishing the Harkers Island area. The space - You can bring your boat, kayak or paddle board here. You will find some of the best kayak trails and boating / fishing opportunities on the coast. -TWO Kayaks available for an additional $150 for the entire stay which includes paddles, jackets, tying lines and rolling wheels - will need to sign liability agreement form. -The island has a little beach on the sound, but the best beaches are in Atlantic Beach and Emerald Island which are a few minutes away. Be sure to check the maps on the property pictures series. Plenty restaurants, shops, and entertainment for everyone. -On the island, you will also find a nice pier that you could fish from, with flounders to be found there and other kind of fish, you could also watch boat launching early morning and coming back with fish early afternoon. -Core Sound and Core Banks also have numerous sweet spots that are home to an abundance of fish, which is why the reward for those with or willing to gain local knowledge. The variety of fish in the waters around Harkers Island is excellent. Flounder are a local favorite and attract many visiting fishermen. Speckled trout are also numerous, and red drum — locally called puppy drum — are abundant in the marshes and along the beaches. At various times during the year, bluefish, sea mullet, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, cobia and more are found in the waters around Harkers Island. - You can use the house dock anytime to fish or to simply enjoy the magnificent new. You can also hire a local guide to pick you up on a skiff and come back with plenty fish too cook for diner. Crab traps are available on request. -A good attraction here is to go down the street to the ferry service and take a ferry to the pristine beach and rent an ATV (six people I think) for the day to drive on the beach ($120 for the entire family). You can also camp there FOR FREE. -Cedar island ferry is something to see if you want to visit the traditional down east. Or take the Davis 6 -8 car ferry to yet more outer banks old towns. The decoy museum and the WaterFowl museum offer a nice FREE long afternoon of learning about the people of the island. Be sure to say hello to the local decoy carver Mr Davis down on Island Road. Guest access in the driveway or under the house. Other things to note ** Coffee and food NOT PROVIDED Some condiments available but cannot guaranty you will have anything. Should be plenty spices for your though. The fridge is plenty big to accommodate a big grocery. Please keep in mind that Harkers island is a small island (one mile X 4 miles) and although there is a grocery store and a Dollar General on the island, you will probably want to pack your groceries as I am sure you can find fresher and cheaper food off the island.
