Secluded Lakeside Cottage in Maine
Built as a secluded get-away retreat, Fulton Lake Cottage gives you the feeling that you have the whole lake to yourself. Enjoy the peace and calm in a cozy home tastefully appointed with authentic Maine artifacts and antiques. The space Fulton Lake Cottage is a quaint shingled lake home reminiscent of the many lake cottages of Maine’s Vacationland renown. We have attempted to infuse the spirit of the Maine outdoors with its history of winter and summer sporting camps into our lake home. When you walk in, you will see antique fishing rods and reels, sleds and skates, skis and snowshoes that will remind you of Maine’s offering of recreation in all seasons. Many of these items have been in our family for decades and now have become antiques and collectibles. Fulton Lake Cottage is a cozy home on three levels. The main level is the heart of the home with the generous kitchen and a large family table in one open space. Traditional pine half-panels covers the walls and hardwood floors offer warmth and beauty. The well-furnished kitchen has plenty of counter space for cooking and an island where family members can gather around. The main floor includes one bedroom with a full size bed, dresser and closet. The large bathroom is on the main level as well. Throw open the French doors that are off the kitchen and open to an airy screened porch so you can feel the lake breezes while you’re cooking or relaxing. You can also access the large covered deck from the screened porch. The deck is covered and has plenty of space for outdoor entertaining. Above the main floor are two lofts. Kids love the safely secured ladder that leads to the little loft. This is a small space with a day bed where you can read a book or even take a nap. A set of stairs in the dining area leads up to the big loft. This space has two full size log frame beds and is decorated Maine lumberjack style with buffalo plaid bedspreads. The big loft sleeps two individual or two couples. Downstairs on the lower level is the family room with comfortable leather furniture—two full size couches and two easy chairs. This is a great leisure space in which people can relax and talk or watch DVDs on the flat-screen television. There is a small gate-leg table that can be pulled out for games or puzzles. The lower level also has a gas log that can be enjoyed in chilly weather. The larger bedroom is on this lower level. This bedroom has king-size bed and large closet. Next to the bedroom is the laundry and utility room with a washer and dryer. The lower level also has French doors that walk out to the ground level and is only a few steps away from the path down to the dock and the lake. Outdoors offers more ways to relax. The large covered deck with a hanging swing, outdoor furniture, and an outdoor dining set offer plenty of space to enjoy the spectacular Maine days and nights. Grill out on the deck or bring home some lobster! You can also enjoy the evening weather with a bonfire in the fire pit. Fulton Lake Cottage is surrounded by beautiful evergreens that lay a carpet of needles on the mossy path to the lakeside and scent the breeze with the fragrance of the Maine woods. There is a dock at the waters' edge from which you can fish, swim or launch a kayak. Guest access Relax at camp and enjoy kayaking on the lake or use it as a home base to foray into the true Down East Maine and Canada. Fulton Lake Cottage is 20 minutes to Machias. Easy day trips to wonderful places like Quoddy Head State Park, Acadia National Park, FDR’s Campobello International Park, or St. Andrews New Brunswick.
