Private, daylight-basement 1300 sq ft guest-suite in a park-like setting, in the Montavilla neighborhood. Cozy bedroom w/ king bed. Large dining area & living room w/ fireplace & large screen TV. Kitchenette w/ everything you need to make coffee, tea & simple meals (modern hot plate, Instant Pot, toaster). Short walk to great dining, coffee shops, pubs & eclectic retail on Stark & Glisan Streets. 5 minute drive to beautiful Mount Tabor Park. 15 minutes to downtown Portland & the airport! The space The guest-suite is a bright, spacious walkout/daylight basement apartment in our mid-century home. It has a private walkway, patio and entrance. We've recently updated the space with fresh paint, a new bed and new king-size mattress and new kitchen appliances to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. There is a desk, and other surfaces, to work at comfortably. There is also a large screen smart-TV and internet-based streaming video devices (Roku, Chromecast). Additional bed for registered guests (upon request only): We have a very comfortable queen size air mattress we are happy to set up in a nook in the living room area for additional registered guest(s). Allergen Conscientiousness: We generally only use unscented/lightly scented natural/biodegradable products for the sheets and towels. We never use Febreze or strongly scented detergents. (*We can't guarantee the space will be scent-free, as we've found that each guest's personal care items tend to leave varying degrees of scent lingering.) * Due to COVID-19, we are currently using the CDC’s dilute bleach solution on surfaces. There are no cats in the home. Our dog Lucy does not spend time in the space. We FULLY LAUNDER/SANITIZE ALL BEDDING ITEMS BETWEEN EACH GUEST, including the comforter, quilt, and mattress cover. We run all pillows through a steam sanitize cycle. The space shares very little circulating air with our home upstairs. The space does not have A/C, but even during the Great Heat Wave of June 2021, the space never got above 79 degrees. There are fans. Guest access Guests will have private use of the lower guest-suite and shared use of the fenced in patio and adjacent yard (on the same ground level as the guest-suite). Parking: Guests are welcome to pull small to medium size vehicles down into the driveway to load in and out of the Airbnb but we request that, in general, you park on the street and walk in to allow us access to our garage without having to coordinate. Street parking is free, abundant and well lit (as are the driveway and access paths). If you pull into the driveway to load in/out, please be able to back out of a longer, sloped driveway. We’re very happy to help you with your luggage. Washer/dryer: Guests will have access to the shared washer/dryer and soap upon request at no additional charge -just ask us and we'll set you up! Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: OUR CURRENT FLOOR PLAN REQUIRES THAT GUESTS ACCESS THE BEDROOM VIA THE PRIVATE WALK-THROUGH BATHROOM. This may not be suitable for very large luggage items or for those who might find this aesthetically unpleasing. ADA Accessibility: There are no stairs inside or outside the apartment and while the pathway in is mostly level gravel, this listing is unlikely to be suitable for wheelchairs or walkers, etc, especially considering the through-bathroom to bedroom access situation. CHEMICALLY HYPOALLERGENIC: We strive to keep our space as free of chemicals scents as possible. This is for ourselves AND for sensitive guests. PLEASE DO NOT IMPORTANT AND/OR USE SYNTHETIC CHEMICAL SCENTS IN THE SPACE. This especially applies to modern conventional laundry detergents and fabric softeners which are becoming extremely noxious.
