Birdsong is professionally and thoroughly cleaned, aired and sanitised by our experienced cleaner, with all the right tools incl professional grade, eco friendly products with a perfect subtleness. You know at once your space has been cleaned, but you are not overwhelmed by the smell of harsh chemicals on arrival.. We maintain a strict hygiene & cleaning routine and protocols in between guests so that every guest can walk in and feel welcomed and comfortable, and as they lie down on the freshly washed linen, breathe a sigh of relief that they chose our Birdsong. This is why you will see a cleaning fee as part of your booking. At Birdsong, we are transparent about costs. We will not compete on cleaning fees, because on cleanliness, we are unbeatable. We do not charge guests more than what we pay for cleaning, as I absorb the out of pocket. We charge a pet fee as is standard across Airbnb. The pet fee is what enables us to offer you a place to stay where your pet can come with you. We are pleased to be able to offer this to you. Please do not sneak your pet in as we need the fees to cover insurances and the wear and tear over time for the pleasure of being pet-friendly. The pet fee is not an additional cleaning fee, although a portion of it is allocated for the extra 30-60mins our cleaner spends cleaning after every pet. Whether they stay one night or ten, our cleaning protocol is the same. Please feel free to ask questions. . Our bed linen is freshly laundered by Mum, air dried and smells beautiful. Mum steam irons he pillow cases too. We offer plenty of soft bath sheets and bath towels, as well as luxury Pure Beach amenities. We have a few extra amenities on hand in case you forgot something. Birdsong is thoughtfully prepared for your stay. It is a team effort, with Mum preparing your bedding, Dad organising a starter breakfast of eggs and bread to get you going on day one and delivering Mum's home-baked treats to welcome you just before you arrive. Our professional cleaner, with her years of experience, eco friendly products and professional equipment carefully and lovingly cleans and prepares the house for your stay. We are all on hand during your stay to help if needed. I am based in Canberra and am tuned in to messages before and during your stay. We all work together to ensure the house is well-stocked and prepared for your stay, so that you have a positive experience at Birdsong. WHAT ELSE? Our fast, unlimited WIFI will keep you well-connected for work or leisure. We offer a complimentary guest account for Netflix, Stan, Disney+ Paramount+ and Brit Box for your enjoyment through our Google TV. Self check in is easy (anytime after 2pm) with a key safe and your own code. Nestled alongside the Back Creek trail, your home is ideal for a little stroll, dog walking or adventures further afield. Please check out our suggestions for adventures along the creek trails in the Information Compendium on the coffee table. Bendigo's creek trail system is vast and impressive. We suit almost anyone. We are also ideal for travelling with infants. The two way bathroom comes in very handy so as not to wake baby up if they are down for a nap in the bedroom. You can access the bathroom now the kitchen. Free of clutter, the house is easy to baby proof too. We provide a starter supply of bread, eggs, butter and milk to make your first morning easy, knowing that sometimes after traveling, it can be hard to make it to the supermarket. There are cereals, coffee pods, spreads and more to last throughout your stay. With a reverse cycle mounted unit, serviced regularly, Birdsong is toasty warm in winter and lovely and cool in Summer. There is a Dyson blade cooling fan in the bedroom in Spring & Summer. Homemade treats from my lovely Mum will welcome you. All this and more, makes Birdsong an ideal choice when visiting Bendigo. THE KITCHEN Make yourself at home in the spacious kitchen, equipped with an oven, toaster kettle, Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, microwave, fridge & dishwasher. There are staples for cooking. Please try my favourite salt, Murray River Salt. There is a Nespresso Vertuo coffee (pod) machine. Together with the Aeroccino3 milk frother and carefully selected pod coffee varieties, you will have a great kickstart to your day. As a dedicated coffee drinkers, we make sure we supply enough pods for your stay. Instructions are in the compendium or, sometimes on the bench. There is instant coffee and a kettle if you like to keep things simple and a range of black or herbal teas to choose from too. If the pods don’t quite cut it for you, the Quarry Hill Larder is a 3 minute walk, on Mitchell St. Their coffee is excellent. THE BEDROOM & LIVING The bedroom is large and light-filled with a comfy queen bed, a place you can truly unwind and be comfortable no matter what the weather outside. Our mattress is like sleeping on a cloud and guests report having great sleeps. But it is important that potential guests who like really firm mattresses know that our mattress is definitely is on the plush side. Most importantly, the mattress is a good supportive one and we have only had great feedback (see reviews), but listing accuracy is important to us, as is your comfort and we would like guests to be fully informed before booking. There are external blinds for shade and interior block out roman blinds in both the bedroom and living room. The awning outside the living room is remote controlled. The one outside the bedroom is manual (operated from backyard) I am happy for a small family to stay. We do not have sofa beds, but it could work if the kids don't mind the actual sofa (just let me know before booking as we will supply extra bedding). If you are bringing a baby, please BYO portacot, high chair and anything else they need. If you have a toddler, be aware that there are two concrete stairs at the front and one down from the laundry to the patio. Enjoy the two way bathroom while they nap in the bedroom. THE BATHROOM The bathroom has a heat lamp, appreciated by our Winter guests. The two way is between the bedroom and the laundry and through to kitchen. Super handy if you have a baby sleeping in the bedroom, you could slink to the bathroom via the laundry without disturbing the little poppet. THE LAUNDRY The laundry has an efficient washing machine, a trough, and some shelving where you will find everything you need. There is an iron and board as well as a Dyson V8 Animal stick vacuum for your convenience if needed. When we clean for your stay, my cleaner uses a professional grade vacuum and professional, eco friendly, subtle products. THE GREAT OUTDOORS The front court yard, is sunny with a lovely, shade giving lemon tree. There are two wooden chairs out the front for you to sit on and the back yard is private and secured by an internal fence ('the pool fence'). The sun-drenched backyard is a great place to hang out or spend Summer evenings, lying on the lawn and listening to the birds. The patio is perfect or grabbing some uber eats and having a casual bite to eat. There is a full outdoor washing line for your use at the rear of the garden and a clothes airer on the patio. There is a little garden shed that is not included in the listing. We are not aware of any blue tongue lizards out the back, but if you do see one please do everything you can to protect it from little paws. We LOVE animals - all of them. The patio is a relaxing spot with an easy access dog door in the laundry leading out to the covered patio. There is a single step concrete step down. It’s a wee bit steep so go carefully. The patio is a perfect place to unwind, or hang out your washing if it's raining. It's the perfect spot to play cards, have a beer or a soda or relax with a book on a Summer's day while avoiding the sun. We have provided a guest yoga mat and a foam roller (kept on the patio but please use them anywhere and return them to the patio for the next guest). The carport is your private parking space (if needed, but the driveway is plenty big enough) and can be locked for security. The carport gate (white - pictured) has a 12 cm gap underneath and a 20cm gap on the right. For this reason it is imperative that you know that the yard is secured by the internal 'pool fence'. PETS Birdsong is great for dogs. All pets are welcome. Please note as of March 2024, Bendigo is a cat containment area. Please give me a shout before booking just to confirm your pet's requirements and then enter your pets as guests during the booking process. This will ensure that we are aware a pet is in residence in case an allergy sufferer has a booking after yours and ensures the Pet fee is charged correctly at the time of booking. You can do this on the 'guests' tab (Number of Adults, Children, infants, then 'Pets'). If you miss this step, please just reach out and I will help you complete it. Pet fees are standard across Airbnb. If you have questions about the pet fee please reach out to ask. As much as we'd like to supply bedding, pets tend to like their own, so please bring yours and anything else your pet needs, such as their bowls. We have small snack/water bowls on the patio, but you won't find them big enough unless you are bringing a chihuahua. If you really are , then those bowls will be fine for them. We supply pet towels just in case you need to wash little paws before coming inside or if someone gets excited running around the lawn under the sprinkler. There is a secure, locked backyard (secured by the 'pool fence') and a small dog door that goes directly into this yard from the laundry. The private front yard is not fully fenced as the driveway off to the right is open. The space can be enjoyed by a some pets, together with their owners. You might like brekkie together in the morning sun. ALLERGIES The house is cleaned, aired and sanitised thoroughly by my excellent cleaner, and pets bring their own bedding, so if pets are not your thing, do not worry about pet-guests preceding your stay. We clean, we sanitise, we do the laundry using Biozet (an enzymatic detergent used by veterinary clinics to destroy dander and other pet enzymes) and we have our air-con professionally serviced regularly. We wash the sofa cushion covers regularly. We reserve additional bedding, towels, cushion covers and sofa blankets in storage away from Birdsong for any severe allergy suffers. These items are never in the house at the same time as a pet. please let us know if you have severe allergies and we will make the appropriate arrangements. BEYOND BIRDSONG The walking/cycling track out the front door connects you to your surrounds. The train station and the CBD are an easy 1.4km walk (10-15min) along historic Carpenter St, with many heritage-listed homes to admire. La Trobe University is just 1.4km away (via Ellis Street to the East). You will find excellent walking and hiking trails to the south. Just follow the trail or head up towards the university.. Even though you are close to many things, sometimes an uber, bus or scooter (neuron app) might be what you feel like and Bendigo has all these in abundance, with bus transport for getting around Bendigo only a block away from Birdsong. Guest access You can access everywhere except the little garden shed, used to store the lawnmower. Other things to note The Birdsong we’ve created is a perfect-imperfect, tucked-away little oasis that instantly feels like home. Guests tell us they walk in and wish they'd booked additional nights. Built in 1978 using the ever-popular blonde brick, it's at testament to 1970's Aussie builds. With its slanted roof, it is only a whisker away from mid-century (and I plan to restore it to this) We know that if you book Birdsong, you will be happy that you did. The inside is beautiful, modern and spacious, and extensive through the laundry to a private, covered patio and fenced backyard.. Please be careful. The 2 steps up to the front door and the step down from the laundry to garden are a bit deep, and they are concrete. I love the nearby cafes, including the Spring Gully General Store and the Quarry Hill Larder (3 min walk). The cleaning fee is higher than some nearby Airbnbs because we employ a highly experienced and reliable professional cleaner. I know some guests feel cleaning fees can be excessive. Please be rest assured that I do everything possible to keep the fees as low as possible, while providing unbeatable cleanliness, lots of extras and pure relaxation and comfort and paying my amazing cleaner what she is worth—well above the cleaning fee. This also buys me peace of mind, that when you walk into Birdsong, you know at once that we care about your comfort and experience at our Birdsong.. I know short-stay guests (1-3 nights) feel the pinch of the cleaning fee. And this is where the Airbnb system is a bit flawed. No matter how long our guest stays, I pay my cleaner the same. We do not change or our strict cleaning routine, or compromise on cleanliness if a guest only stayed one night.. We want every guest to enjoy the same experience of cleanliness and of feeling welcome as soon as they walk in. In this way, I cannot compete on price with owner-cleaned Airbnbs, but on everything else, I believe we can. We offer a unique and welcoming home, located in a quiet suburb so you can sleep well in fresh sheets washed by Mum, enjoying the quiet of our leafy suburb, but also be 2.3km from the Bendigo Art Gallery, or 1.3km to the Train Station and Marketplace or ten steps to the Creek Trail which leads so some of Bendigo's best bush walks I try to offset that fee by offering either a reduced short stay cleaning fee or a 2-3 night discount and absorb the out-of-pocket on balance with remaining open as an Airbnb.. If something unforeseen happens and you need to cancel before check in, based on my experience, if you notify me early, there is a a good chance that someone will book the dates you cancel. In those cases, we work out the difference (making sure we are not out of pocket) and refund as much as possible. We also ask on your behalf, for Airbnb to refund their fees. There is no function to discount a one night stay, but if you are stuck by a few dollars due to a company policy on work accomodation costs, please reach out be message and I will see what I can do. To ensure that longer stays are not paying more than short stays, I have set up an additional nightly discount system based on the number of nights, so it all evens out. Please know, I am not an investor seeking to profit, but but run a family Airbnb that just needs to cover costs due to an injury that left me interstate and unable to move into the house as planned about a year ago. Mum washes all the linen and even irons the pillow cases and loves to share her baking with guests so you have something to snack on, on arrival after your long drive. Dad likes to tend to your "starter" breakfast of eggs, bread and butter and the delivery of Mum's treats before you arrive. He also checks you have enough cereal and spreads for the duration of your stay. Our wonderful cleaner, Dee tends to the movie night snacks and lays out the towels and luxe bathroom amenities beautifully for your stay. The coffee pods are stacked high. We are not the kind of airbnb that provides two pods and expects you will go and buy a packet. You will find everything you need at Birdsong for your stay–– generous amounts of everything, including five complimentary TV streaming services, the best coffee pods available, hotel pillows and additional pillow choices, extra bedding and quality bath sheets and towels. I make sure you have unlimited wifi and are warm in Winter and cool in Summer. We are not perfect, but we are attentive and caring. With me watching the messages and Mum, Dad and our cleaner just around the corner from you, you can be rest assured that if you need something , we will all rally to ensure you are looked after.
