Our "Retro Modern Bungalow" has a ton of love and personality in its design - we chose eclectic furnishings, art, decor, and tile in vintage styles. We stay here when we’re in town visiting family a few times a year, and we’re excited to share it with you! Centrally located just 15 mins from Midway airport, 10 mins from Oak Park - where Frank Lloyd Wrights home and studio are found - and 20 mins from downtown Chicago. The designer-clad living room is a throwback to another era, with its velvet sofa and low slung leather chairs. It’s outfitted with a record player + vinyl selection, and a vintage Playboy collection from the 1950s. The original brick fireplace has a remote controlled electric log for ambience while you kick back, spin some records, have a drink and play a game of cards. For the more modern folks don’t worry - we have a smart TV in the living room and the record player doubles as a bluetooth speaker! The retro-styled kitchen is equipped with modern appliances - including a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker and french press - along with dishes, flatware, pots and pans. Our vintage bar cart is stocked with a cocktail shaker and glassware, and the dining table comfortably seats six. The original pink tiled bathroom is in pristine condition. There are plenty of large waffle towels on hand for our guests and we stock toiletries from Public Goods along with make-up wipes, a hair dryer, and a clothing steamer. Each of the two bedrooms has a king-sized bed with luxurious linens, and the primary bedroom has an additional smart TV along with a large desk and office chair - the perfect spot to check on your emails or hop on a Zoom if you need to get a little work done - and our central HVAC and speedy wifi let you stay comfortable and connected throughout your stay. If you're traveling with an infant you'll find a pack-n-play crib with a mattress and sheets on site as well as a pop-up highchair with tray that can be placed on a chair for your little one. These are complimentary amenities for our guests that need them. (Please note that we may not be the most family-friendly choice for children other than infants or teens, due to breakable decor items, a glass top coffee table, etc. and use your discretion when booking.) Head out back to the fully-fenced backyard and you'll be greeted by a bistro table for sipping your morning coffee and a propane fire pit to gather around when weather permits. *We are pet friendly and welcome up to two pups for an additional fee. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet and safe. There are great restaurants and coffee shops close by. We offer free parking for one car in our garage and additional overnight street parking is available by permit. We also provide those permits to our guests at no cost. The train station is just a few blocks away (at 54th and Cermak) for catching public transit, and Uber or Lyft are also easy options for getting around town. What are you waiting for? Public transit is also an option.) You'll have full access to the house, yard, and garage. There are no shared spaces. The basement is locked and used for personal storage. Since our basement is being remodeled, we do not allow guest use of our washer and dryer at this time but we plan to add the amenity at a later date. We will not be on site and live out of state, however we are always a call or text away and have a cleaner and maintenance person that help to manage the home locally if anything is ever needed. Uber and Lyft are great for short trips and rides are easy to order in the area. CTA trains run frequently to the city from Oak park. Check transitchicago .com for train schedules and stops. PARKING You may park one car in our garage. The garage code is provided with your check-in instructions. Additional overnight street parking is allowed by permit and we provide parking permits as a complementary amenity for our guests. (No permit is necessary for street parking during the day.) PETS We allow up to two well-behaved dogs per stay for a $60 pet fee. There is no weight limit. Dogs are not allowed on the couch due to the fabric (hair is very difficult to remove.) If any damage is caused or excessive cleaning is required, guests are responsible for the cost of the damage or additional housekeeping fee. Guests are also responsible for cleaning up after their pets and crating if necessary. Our backyard is fully fenced but dogs should not be left un-accompanied outside for long periods of time. CHILDREN We provide a pack-n-play and pop up high chair for those traveling with infants. Please note that we are not the most family-friendly choice for children other than infants and teens as we have many small or delicate pieces of decor, have a glass-topped coffee table, and have a collection of vintage Playboy magazines at the house. Please book with discretion if you are traveling with toddlers or younger children. HVAC The house is equipped with central heating and air conditioning. The thermostat is located to the right of the fireplace in the living room. KITCHEN We have a full kitchen with a fridge, stove, and microwave. It is equipped with dishes, cups, silverware, coffee maker, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. Please do not put vintage glassware or any delicate dishware into the dishwasher. WiFi The home has reliable, hi-speed WiFi SMART TVs There are Roku enabled smart TVs in the primary bedroom and living room. Both TVs are equipped with Netflix and Disney+ or ready to stream from all of your accounts ENTERTAINMENT Please note that we have a collection of vintage Playboy magazines at the house from 1959. We ask that you handle them with care! If you have children with you or prefer to stash the magazines out of sight, please remember to put them back where you found them when you check out! We also have a vinyl record collection and record player. A link to a video on how to properly use the player will be included with your check-in instructions. Please treat it delicately! There’s a Bluetooth setting for streaming tunes as well.
