The Head Water House is easy to find—just 5 miles off Highway 101 and only 15 minutes from Old Town Eureka. This place is truly unique, featuring a one-of-a-kind natural redwood amphitheater and wide open-meadow views. Elk River Valley is inland, and receives about 40% more sunny days than Eureka proper. With Starlink, rural connectivity is fast and reliable. Wildlife is abundant here: you’ll likely see and hear a variety of birds, deer, foxes, and—if you’re lucky—a Barred Owl at dusk. The space You’ll have access to the primary floor and the large back patio of this Heartwood (old-growth redwood) home. (Please read the disclaimer below.) The entry opens to high ceilings and a spacious living room with a fireplace insert, a full-size kitchen, and a master bedroom with a queen-size bed. Fresh linens and towels are provided for your stay. The home features a modern Japanese-style bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. The back patio is the highlight, offering a 280-degree view of a 25-acre meadow framed by towering redwoods that form a natural amphitheater. It’s the perfect place to enjoy sunrise with coffee or unwind with a glass of wine at sunset. The full kitchen includes cookware, utensils, a large island cutting board, a stainless-steel refrigerator, and an electric glass-top range with convection oven. Disclaimer (Please Read Before Booking) For full transparency, the host has a few requests and expectations. If any of these seem unreasonable, please consider them carefully before booking: Access & Property Use One smaller bedroom, one supply closet, and the mudroom will remain locked during your stay. Maximum occupancy is four people at any time. Cell coverage varies by provider. Starlink Wi-Fi is available and supports Wi-Fi calling reliably. Downstairs Suite The downstairs suite is separately listed on Airbnb (search “Head Water House Suite”) and may or may not be occupied during your stay. You can ask and I'll let you know. Please keep noise to normal conversation levels—avoid stomping or wearing hard-soled shoes indoors. Quiet hours: 9 p.m.–9 a.m. Pets Due to noise concerns, large or unattended barking dogs are not allowed. Please keep pets off the couches and especially off the bedroom comforter. Water Use The property is not on a municipal water system. Please conserve water during your stay. In late summer, the cistern (well water) may have a slight beige tint due to natural iron content. It is filtered through charcoal and UV light; no bacteria have been detected. Tap water is not recommended for drinking. Approximately 5 gallons of drinking water are provided. Smoking Policy If you smoke, please do not rent this Airbnb. Smoking or vaping of any kind is strictly prohibited. A $250 fine will be charged for any violation.
