Our farmstay has been described as a "European getaway" without jet lag or time commitment. The barn is two separate units: the Lower barn, and the Upper barn that must be rented simultaneously if you want to rent the entire barn. Quixote Barn is in the heart of our remote 145 acre family ranch. We share our family citrus farm for agri-tourism as a way to offset water costs. Please inquire before booking if meals are available. No Photoshoots, please. The Lower Barn is the downstairs area of our converted barn. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms with a den (with foldout sofa) and a dining room downstairs apartment in a former horse barn. Please be aware this is a shared space with the upstairs tenant (who you may or may not see) both of you have your own dedicated entrances. If you want the maximum amount of privacy and quiet, we recommend you rent the entire barn, by consecutively booking the Upper barn here at Quixote Farm. Otherwise, please be aware there are hardwood floors upstairs and you may hear some ambient sounds . Enjoy the Ranch! Its lovely to walk in our gently sloping orchard. A map of the property is provided in the guidebook. You will have access to the citrus orchard surrounding the cottage, you can feed our three rescue horses carrots. The pool can be reserved for a maximum of 3 hours a day during summer months. June-Sept. 10 a-3p Also: Pre-scheduled Polaris tours of the ranch are available, as well as guided hiking tours. “You Picks” are hosted May + June!!! While most guests love this, please know that The barn is in the heart of where this happens, so it will not be private or quiet! Check photos for dates! No Photoshoots! If we are in town, we like to greet you upon arrival, and visit as we have time. Please be aware that our entire extended family lives on this property, so you may be interacting with grandparents and aunties and cousins at any given time . No photoshoots! Quiet Pastoral Countryside in North County San Diego. Surrounded primarily by large Ranch and Agriculture properties. You will need a car to access the property, as well as to get around our area if you wish to sightsee. The Barn is located at the front of our property on a short dirt road and most people are able to get in and out without any issues regardless of weather, or what type of car they drive. UBER and LYFT do not service our area. Secure Parking on the property. There is space for 3-4 cars Check in is at 3 pm. Checkout is 10 am. PLEASE read the Guidebook before coming to the barn. In addition to describing several fun local attractions, the Guidebook has a few pertinent details that everyone MUST know before coming here. Pre-scheduling of meals(A must, as we have very busy lives and cannot accommodate last-minute requests) pool and tours, etc is required. Agritourism was created as a means for the farming industry to offset high costs of running a farm, and to showcase a different way of life. This ranch is our livelihood and we are trying to care for our parents and our family here. While we love to serve our guests well, please understand that we are not a five-star resort. Five stars on Airbnb is completely different from five stars in a hotel. Since this is a FARM in the country, you may see the occasional ant or bug, or fly. Please understand “biodynamic farm” Is not just a trendy catchphrase to attract vistors. It means we endeavor to be as eco friendly and chemical free as possible. The ranch is remote . There is nothing to do here, and that’s the point. The farm is ideal for people that want to get away from it all and relax in nature. Some people have booked the cottage as a base for sightseeing in San Diego-we don’t recommend this. Two-lane Highways can mean traffic slow down no matter what time of day-creating a frustrating long commute. Small dinner parties are acceptable as long as you ask in advance -parties with more than 6 people are strictly prohibited. NO music, glitter or party decor, please!
