Description

Off-grid experience (solar-powered and rainwater fed) for hikers, skiers or relaxers. This unique Finnish-inspired cabin has stunning views at all hours of the day and rich wildlife as well as Nature experiences in every direction. Steps away from the back entrance to the new Castle Provincial Park, and adjacent to thousands of acres of beautiful and accessible public land. Many surrounding peaks from which to choose for the hikers and bikers, and two hills 40 minutes away for skiers. The space This is a back-country cabin, there is one main floor and loft with a double bed. The kitchen is very basic with a butane camp stove and mini-fridge. The lights are run off solar-powered batteries, the water is rainwater collected into barrels (clean of course), and the toilet is an outhouse. The cabin is a step up from glamping. *** Disclaimer :) it's glamping! *** This is an off-grid backwoods cabin that is pretty bare bones, run on solar or generator in times of Winter low-light. There is no running water so it's bring-your-own water, the sanitary facilities are an outhouse and guests bring their own sleeping bag or sheets. The guests that appreciate the cabin like the access to Nature, walking, hiking, views etc, and the ones that are shocked expect a spa retreat. I just want to make sure you're not expecting a spa retreat :) If you're not you have access to over 500 acres contiguous private land to roam and explore, and a Provincial Park that's ever bigger beyond that. ANOTHER WILDLIFE DISCLAIMER: please be advised that the cabin situated adjacent to Park and Crown land and that wildlife of all sizes frequents the area. The owner is not responsible for personal injuries that may result from possible encounters with these. We advise that you be bear-aware, proceed with knowledge and carry bear spray while walking on the property. Guest access The cabin is located on private land so you can walk for very many acres in any direction. Other things to note JUST SO EVERYONE IS AWARE 1) This is a bring-your-own-sleeping-bags rental. We provide bed and pillows but the rest is up to you. 2) We also advise that you bring your own drinking water as the rainwater collection mechanism is not up and running since there has been a drought in Southwestern Alberta this Summer. This also means that there is no running water, it's glamping. 3) The neighbour, down the road and out of sight, has some free-run chickens, so if your dogs likes to chase chickens, please keep an eye on him/her :) 4) The toilet is an outhouse. 5) Power runs on solar-charged batteries, so please be economical with it.
