Guest Suite in Historic Home with Garden Oasis
Description
Relax in our beautiful family-friendly historic house and garden with modern upgrades! You'll love the cozy, queen size bed and equally comfy sofa bed, filtered water on all taps, central AC, and a large, vintage bathtub. Located in the vibrant and friendly neighborhood of Bedstuy, this is the perfect home base for exploring the city with subways and buses nearby. This is a legally registered NYC short term rental (Registration number: OSE-STRREG-0000077) for up to 2 guests and their children. The space Built in 1905, our home is full of old-world charm. Your private suite is on the first floor (street-level) of our multi-level apartment, offering a cozy retreat. The Bedroom is south-facing with plenty of natural light, featuring a queen-size memory foam mattress, a large TV, a desk, and a dresser. Right outside your bedroom door, you’ll find our garden sanctuary—feel free to say hi if you see us or our friendly cat, Cookie! (No worries for those with allergies—pets are never allowed in your suite.) The Bathroom is Ensuite with a large, original porcelain tub and shower—perfect for soaking after a day of exploring the city. A walk-in closet in the hallway outside your bedroom keeps luggage neatly tucked away during your stay, and offers a second set of drawers in addition to the dresser in the bedroom. The kitchen is well-equipped and efficient, with a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, sink, electric kettle, a 2-burner electric range, sink, and all the cooking utensils you could need. Coffee lovers enjoy a pour-over carafe, stovetop espresso maker, and French press (filters provided). A dining bar has bar-seating for 3 and an optional high chair. The living room has a 2 comfy chairs and a sofa (which converts to a queen bed upon request for additional guests). Your living area is exclusively for your party, and comfortably accommodates two adults plus children. Although you may see us coming and going through the shared entrance in the hallway, we mostly keep to ourselves on the floors above you and prefer to give you complete privacy. Please note: While you may not see us during your stay, this suite is in our shared, family home. You will most certainly hear us moving about upstairs, especially on weekday mornings (from 7 AM) and midday weekends while we cook and gather. Our floors are thin, old and creaky, so if you're seeking a completely quiet, hotel-like experience or plan to spend most of your time indoors needing silence, this may not be the best fit. Our 5-star rating depends on guests understanding this before booking. We look forward to hosting you and making your stay as comfortable as possible! Guest access Guests have access to the entire space including the backyard. During your stay We are always available for questions and assistance, either in person or via the app :) Other things to note Our home is more than 100 years old! We clean every inch of it, but there are some permanent blemishes and irregularities that we feel give our home its character. If the age stains in our original porcelain bathtub, the imperfect paint job on the original plaster, or cracks in the floorboards will affect the way you rate your stay, please consider searching for a more polished unit. We ask that all guests remove their street shoes prior to entering the apartment to protect the historic flooring and keep the space clean. If you are new to airbnb, please note that your time with us will not feel like a hotel stay. We enjoy answering your general questions and getting to know you, however we often unable to provide an on-call, concierge-type service to help you plan your time here. Our guidebook (printed and online) are meant to help you in this way. If english is not your first language, please take care to translate all of our listed documents in advance of your arrival here to make sure you fully understand them. Our printed guidebook is only in English. Please read through the "location" and "getting around" sections of our listing carefully, which lists approximate commute times to popular destinations, as well as the walking distances to our local metros. Our closest subways are .6m/1km/10 minutes walking, and .8m/1.25k/15 minutes walking. We recommend using a mapping app on your phone in advance of your arrival as it is a valuable tool for planning your commute around the city. We have extra baby gear on-hand for families to use, so please check with us in advance to make sure we can have these set up and available to you. If you have questions about our neighborhood and what it feels like to stay here, please read our detailed guest reviews, as well the "neighborhood" section of our listing for more information.
