Emäntien Kyökki

Description

Welcome to the shores of Lake Saimaa to stay in an atmospheric granary. The granary was completed in 1900, so its logs are guaranteed to have a story to tell. The space Villa Ketvele is located on the side of the municipality of Taipalsaari, near Lappeenranta. You can get to the property by car, bike, or taxi, no public transportation. The property is located on the shore of Lake Saimaa, in the yard of an old farm, where there has been life since the 18th century. My own blue house is 1903. The Mistress of the Beats: In the yard, next to my house is a barn, completed in 1900, with a total of 5 rooms. There is electricity in the barn rooms, but NO HEATING and there IS NO sound insulation IN the rooms. So please bring earplugs if you feel you need them. I hope you understand these things before you book :) The hostesses' cubicle has one double bed. There's also one spread out wooden couch in the room, so it's also possible to stay there. Thus, 3 guests can comfortably stay at Emäntie's Kyöki. Linens are included, but towels are not. There are also mosquito nets in every barn on top of the sleeping areas. The barn room is made cozy and each room is personalized to its name, but there is no toilet or shower. Smelly outlets (total of 4) and a lakeside sauna serve travelers as needed. Wood sauna and beach: For the sauna, I ask for a small additional fee per room (€15/barn). The sauna shift lasts an hour, but if it's quieter, you can get a sauna longer. In the high season, the sauna is in high demand, so if you want a sauna turn for yourself, please book a turn on the notice board on the outside wall of the sauna. It is the responsibility of each sauna to leave the sauna warm for the following, so please add more trees if needed! There is also the option to buy a “sauna package” for an additional fee (€10/person) for the sauna, which includes towels and petals, fresh non-alcoholic beverage in your own house, popcorn, and croisant with jam. The sauna set can also be booked at the time of booking. The sauna does not have a shower, but the old-fashioned and traditional Finnish laundry freshens after the sauna. From the sauna, you can also take a dip in Lake Saimaa. My own beach is a fairly shallow sandy beach, where when you wade far enough, you get to the mud, but the beach is still very swimmable. (NOTE: An outdoor shower means bathing in connection with the sauna!). (HUOM2! The water in the Lake Saimaa is very low, so swimming from your own beach is quite challenging - but there are the stunning Päihänniemi beaches nearby that you can easily swim to!) On the beach you will find three funnel boards, one kayak, one rowing water and one Packraft kayak that are free to use. Breakfast/Soup Facilities: For an additional fee, you'll have the option to order a breakfast basket for yourself and your party. The breakfast basket includes at least coffee/ tea, juice, egg, fresh roll with toppings, and (fresh)porridge. The products are lactose-free and gluten-free bread will be provided upon request. However, please understand that for very complicated special diets, I don't have the opportunity to offer. Breakfast basket is 10€/person. PLEASE LET me know about the need for breakfast as early as possible so that I may be able to prepare a breakfast basket. At the top of the barn, you'll find a charming little kitchen with a comprehensive range of cooking utensils. There is also a refrigerator and freezer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, mini ovens, hot plates, and, of course, drinking water (in a canister). Villa Ketvele also offers coffee and tea (for self cooking), as well as filter bags and basic spices for seasoning food. After cooking, I ask that you clean the kitchen and do the dishes so the next guest can enjoy spending time in the kitchen. If you want to cook and cook on your own, I recommend going to the store before you arrive. It's about 20 kilometers from here to the nearest store. I hope you'll spend some time over the barn if you want to stay up and chat with your companions to keep the peace of sleep in the barn. If you want to read or play, you can find books, magazines, and board games in the barn closet. The top floor of the barn also opens up to a beautiful landscape towards Saimaa, so you can also admire it in the beautiful weather. There is also a fire pit and firewood in the yard for reasonable use, but at the time of the forest fire warning, the fire must not be kept in the fire. By summer 2026, a small summer kitchen and a barbecue are to be used by customers, which are also available during the forest fire warning. Summer poop: You can also find a small summer skis on the bottom floor of the barn. It offers sweet and savory treats (candy, sip, dip), soda/juice, and also some more energetic snacks. At the summer skis, you can take the products and pay them in cash (even money) or Mobile Pay. Occasionally, the superstructure may also be turned on, so sometimes there's a chance of ice cream! :) By bicycle: My place is also an opportunity to ride on a bike. So if you're traveling by bike, then by adjusting the Saimaa Archipelago Trail, it's also possible to stay with me, as this is also the way to get to Sarviniemi by bike, from where the ferry takes to Kyläniemi, and so the route gets used to a little customized. So if you're looking for a traditional and peaceful place to stay that's personalized, warm, and hospitable, it's my place for you! Dogs: Villa Ketlevese is home to three golden retrievers, Nuppu, Havu, and Emu. They're kind, but they're a little wild at first - but they're mostly in need of scratching. Other pets are also welcome here, and after a little exploring, I think everyone will get along. Place: The umbrella island where the barn is located is a traditional old rural village, one of the villages of Vehkataipale. Lappeenranta is about 25 kilometers away, which can be reached in about 20 minutes. In Lappeenranta, you'll find good restaurant services, a sand castle, a historic Citadel and Rakuunamäki area, shopping and a lively harbor in the summertime. On the Taipalsaari side, you'll find a traditional country keeper, a beautiful church, and big ice cream balls, as well as lots of countryside. Nearby you can also reach Imatra's services and Imatrankoski, the Huuhanranta of Ruokolahti and the exquisite countryside, as well as the quite lively harbor area of Puumala. In each room you will also find a folder with more information about the area and its services. On the umbrella island, you can jog freely on beautiful country roads. Päihänniemi beach is 3.5 kilometers from my place, where there are several hundred meters of the beach - after all, it has also been chosen as the “hidden gem of Lake Saimaa.” In addition, a nature trail has been completed in Päihänniemi, where you can explore the area's nature and history. There are also some great natural attractions elsewhere in the surrounding areas. Online hiking trails in South Karelia on the site are sure to find a lot to see if you're interested in natural sites. Welcome to our village! <3 Guest access In addition to their own room, guests can hang out in the barn's loft, which has a small kitchen and a comprehensive range of cooking utensils, a coffee maker, a kettle, a toaster, mini ovens, hotplates, a fridge and a freezer. From the top of the barn, you can admire Lake Saimaa from the large window, and there are also many dining tables and more relaxed seating areas where you can spend time playing games or reading or just hanging out! Downstairs in the barn, there is also a playroom for children made in the old henhouse, a few wooden sofas and a summer slide. You can also spend time on the sauna terrace, in the courtyard and in the sauna itself, except when someone is using the sauna. During your stay I am available to help and assist according to my own schedule, but I do this hosting in addition to my main job, so I may not always be available! Other things to note Guests will have access to the sauna and directly from the beach to the swimming pool (Note! The water level in Lake Saimaa is currently very low, so swimming from your own beach may be challenging for adults. However, the beautiful sandy beaches of Päihänniemi, i.e. the swimming areas, are nearby!). The sauna and sauna room are paid separately (€15/barn). You can swim at any time. If you want to rent a sauna set with towels, delicacies and refreshments, it costs 10€/person. The price of a delicious breakfast basket is 10€/person. You can also pay for all of these in cash or with Mobilepay. I hope you also pay attention to the fact that three sweet golden retrievers live on the property. They are avid, but friendly. Please drive CAREFULLY to the property, as the dogs are free in the yard and usually run to greet arrivals. There's no need to be afraid of them, even if they greet guests by barking. Other pets are also welcome here, and after a little acquaintance, I think everyone will get along.
