Tucked within the Southfork Valley, nearby Mount Baker Highway, and only 30 mins from Bellingham, we have a beautiful 15 acre homestead that you can unwind and relax in. Whether you are visiting family, mountain biking, getting out on the snowy slopes or doing a working-away from home trip, we have a lovely set up. Our rustic cabin has an open floor plan, easy for socializing or lounging in the loft space with a book, with a wall of windows and a wood fireplace, and access to a shared hot tub! Welcome to our cabin! We are proud of our rustic, quirky hand-built cabin on our beautiful land. It has an open floor plan that includes the kitchen, dining area, and living room space, plus a beautiful earthen-plastered bedroom. The cabin has high ceilings, many windows, and a loft space that has a cozy lounge chair. There are steep stairs to get to the loft area, which is definitely meant for lounging, not standing in because the ceilings are low. The kitchen has a dishwasher, electric stove top, and all the pots and pans and basics you need. The dining table has an extra leaf you can use if you'd like to expand it. The living room area faces towards the french doors, the ultimate entertainment -- a gorgeous and lush green view with birds zipping by. The futon couch in the living room transforms into a queen size bed. The bathroom is small and has a shower, toilet, large multipurpose sink, washer and dryer. There is a 7-person hot tub, which is shared with another unit, but you are welcome to use it respectfully and quietly. Historically, this cabin was just a studio and bathroom and we added on the bedroom. We designed and handcrafted the bedroom from the ground up. The earth-toned bedroom is warm and welcoming with clay plastered walls. You won't want to leave once you get into bed with a book. In the cooler and wetter months of the year, we have a wonderful wood burning stove that does a great job at heating the main area. We have a mini-split heat pump that you can use to heat or cool the main space and bedroom, as well. Throughout the cabin, we use warm light, not the bright white light bulbs to create a peaceful ambiance. Our cabin is on 15 acres and you are welcome to explore. Feel free to hang out on our lawn and landscaped areas, make your way down to the stream that lines our property, visit the island on the pond, say hello to our chickens in the orchard, or go on a short 15 minute hike in the forest and meadow along our trail. Feel free to enjoy the hot tub. It's a wonderful way to relax at the end of a long ski day! Guests have access to the whole cabin. There is some storage hidden in the loft space that is not visible to guests. Guests have access to all the places on the property listed above. Please do not go into the chicken coop or the fenced area by the main house where the large maple tree and pond are. Thank you! The cabin is adjacent to the main house on the property. We share a pathway that leads to your house and ours with a common space in between. We live in the main house with our 2 year old daughter. We are generally busy and you may see us playing with our daughter, working on a homesteading project, or plastering in the workshop. We love our home and are excited to share it with guests from around the world. We are community oriented people and are open to have chatting with guests and making sure they have everything they need to make themselves at home and we respect your privacy and understand cues for when to stop chatting. There is a hot tub located between the two structures that we enjoy most days. we are happy allow our guests access to it, but simply ask that they are respectful, quiet, and clean. It's such a wonderful way to relax after a long day of skiing! We live in a scenic area surrounded by mountains and a rock-faced dyke which showcases a waterfall in the wetter seasons. We love taking walks in the neighborhood and passing by our neighbors' homes who many of them have goats, miniature ponies, horses, and gardens. The neighborhood is quiet and not on a main street and feels comfortable walking in. The Van Zandt Community Hall is a historic building in the neighborhood and has a small playground that is great for kids. There is a pickle ball court, horseshoes, basket ball court, and gazebo with picnic tables to enjoy. There is free parking onsite next to the cabin. Because of the steep stairs to the loft and the wood oven fireplace, please be cautious if you have a crawler or toddler. We do have a safety gate and crib we offer upon request.
