Zummer Frei Dolomites Terrace
Description
"Zummer Frei Dolomites is a boutique retreat in a late 19th-century house, restored with reclaimed materials and local craftsmanship in the heart of the eastern Dolomites. The first-floor apartment opens onto a private terrace shaded by a old vine pergola — the kind of place where breakfast has no reason to end. Lake Cadore, hiking trails, climbing, skiing and cycling are all within minutes. Culture, wild food, genuine silence." Other things to note "Alessandro is around if you need tips — trails, crags, refuges, local spots worth finding. Just ask. The area has two exceptional cycling routes. The first runs directly from the house along the old narrow-gauge railway bed from Calalzo to Cortina d'Ampezzo — gentle gradient, tunnels, forests, restored station buildings. The second is the longer Munich-Venice cycling route, which passes through the valley and connects the Dolomites to the Venetian lagoon. Both are accessible without a car transfer. Lake Cadore is ten minutes by bike — swimming, fishing and open water on the shore. In winter the nearby ice rink hosts hockey and skating, the ski resorts are within easy reach for downhill and snowboarding, and the snowshoeing trails start right outside the door. For slower days: the Titian House Museum in Pieve di Cadore is small and genuinely worth an hour. The Eyewear Museum nearby tells the unexpected story of how this valley became one of the world's centres for optical craftsmanship — Luxottica and Safilo trace their roots to these hills. The trails here are quiet. Most Dolomites visitors concentrate around Cortina, which means twenty minutes away you can walk for hours without meeting a crowd. Deer and chamois are a regular sighting, not a lucky one." Registration Details IT025039C2OV8PEP7D
