Cozy, riverfront house near Saint-Emilion
Description
Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space, equally perfect for professional couples looking for a getaway in the French wine country side and families with children. The house is light, sunny, with a terrace and garden that overlook the Dordogne, and for those hot, lazy days you can enjoy the swimming pool which is nestled the middle of a beautiful fruit-tree grove. If you are looking for gourmet cuisine, village fetes or more sofisticated city life, it is all at your fingertips. The space The house was built the 1820s and is located at the end of a dead end street, which ends where fields with vineyards begin. It is perfect for infants and children because the traffic is mostly from the neighbours and very little. Being in one of the sunniest places in France, the house itself is very roomy, with lots of space for children and adults alike, plenty of natural light and high ceilings. It faces the West which means that all the rooms with one exception are light and all rooms with one exception face the river. The thick walls keep sound and heat outside. For convenience, there is one toilet room on the ground floor and a separate toilet and full bathroom on the first floor. The study/bedroom has a fold out sofa bed and in case more sleeping space is needed an inflatable mattress is also available. The terrace facing the river is perfect for enjoying a siesta, an evening dinner or simply sitting back at night and watching the night sky. If you are a star watcher, there is no better place to do it. The nights are black, with no glow from neighbouring Bordeaux to dim the view. Guest access Guests have access to our swimming pool and the back garden. Guests do not have access to the garage. Other things to note A 5 minute walk will take you to our local butcher and baker, on our main street. The baker also carries other groceries and basic necessities. 5 minutes by car in neighbouring Branne is the large grocery store, Carrefour. Across the bridge, a 15-minute walk, in Saint Jean de Bleignac, you can dine in L'Auberge de Saint Jean, a Michelin Star restaurant opened by a Parisian chef. If you would like to bike, you can rent bikes from the Jardins de Lamproie, which is near our bakery. There are many hiking and public footpaths to enjoy the scenic vistas of the Dordogne, Chateaux and surrounding countryside. You are 10 minutes away by car from Saint Émilion, 20 minutes from Libourne, 45 minutes from Bordeaux and 1h30 minutes from the Bay of Arcachon.
