In the centre you will find several good restaurants, nice cafes and cosy terraces. SURROUNDINGS The department of Côte d’Or and the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté have a lot to offer! The lake was created when a dike was built in the valley of the Arroux river around 1750. A water mill (grain mill) was built against the dike, named Moulin Fouché. The municipality of Arnay-le-Duc has turned the lake into a beautiful recreational lake with a beach. Swimming is allowed in a large part of the lake. The different swimming areas are indicated by floats in the water. If there is a green flag in July and August, there is supervision by a lifeguard. There are two free water slides and a children's playground on the beach. On part of the lake you can paddleboard, pedalo and sail with small boats. There are several picnic benches next to the beach and there are several beautiful lawns around the lake. A gently sloping walking, cycling and fitness path of two kilometers runs around the lake. In half an hour you will be around and on the way you will pass three bridges and all kinds of exercise equipment. It is a beautiful, quiet and relaxing walk. There are 90 kilometers of hiking, cycling and mountain bike trails in the area. At the lake there is a green and quiet Huttopia campsite, where fun activities are organized and where (electric) bicycles can be rented. Everyone is allowed to eat in the campsite restaurant. Because Moulin Fouché is built against the dike - and is therefore more or less below the water level - the sounds of the camping guests and of the people in the water and on the beach often go over your head. This allows you to enjoy your well-deserved rest and nature at your cottage. If you like fishing, l’Etang Fouché is a good place for your hobby. The lake is an official fishing location. You can fish for carp, whitefish, pike and pike-perch. A fishing permit can be purchased at the nearby campsite. The Carefour and one of the bakeries are within walking distance (8 minutes). The best, most beautiful and also most expensive restaurant in the town is Chez Camille, but you can also eat well at Le Dauphiné, Le Château d’Arnay and Café du Nord. There are several other nice restaurants in the region. The charging stations for electric cars are within walking distance (10 to 15 minutes) of Moulin Fouché. The shops are open, there are stalls with nice things, there is live music and there is plenty of food and drink.
