Magical cabin, peaceful getaway this weekend
Description
Enjoy eight beautiful, peaceful acres of native gardens, play fields, pastures and ponds. Make yourself at home in a gorgeous custom cabin, relax in our wood burning sauna with spring fed cold plunge, and frolic with our host of friendly animals. World class hiking and dining is a short drive away, but you might be so taken with the magic of the farm that you don’t want to leave. We keep our prices affordable for families. After four guests, there is an extra fee per guest per night. The space While our community is rebuilding, we are opening our doors to families who need a place to stay. There is a discounted rate available for those who lost property during the disaster or volunteer groups coming to help the ongoing efforts. We take great care in making the cabin peaceful and comfortable so you return home feeling refreshed and inspired. We have a three night minimum during the week to ensure you have time to actually slow down and detach. We offer guests access to our fabulous Scandinavian style sauna. Spending time in the sauna is a great way to unwind after a day of exploring or brewery touring. Glamping guests share access to this gem. When renting the cabin, we offer you the Lily Pad for just $50/night. The open kitchen, dining and living area are the heart of this home. The kitchen is a joy to cook in and includes a wonderful farmhouse sink, gas range, full size refrigerator, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and KitchenAid stand mixer. The master bedroom is a delight with sunny views of the sheep pasture and a cozy king bed. The guest room on the main floor is airy with vaulted ceilings. It includes a desk and makeup mirror. Upstairs there is a cozy loft with two separate areas. The first is lit with twinkle lights, has a comfy twin sleigh bed, kid-sized desk and bins of toys. Just beyond two apron doors, a lovely library awaits. A drafting desk boasts lovely farm views, and a brand new Queen DreamCloud bed is our new favorite place to rest. If you need a mobile command station, this is your spot. Downstairs, there is a room with bunk beds, an additional full bathroom, and a full size washer/dryer. The screened porch is a great setting for al fresco dining and coffee sipping. There are dozens of species of birds on the farm, and this is a great vantage for observing them. The front porch is open and is a great place to stretch out in the shade with a book. From your porch, it's a short walk down the hill to the duck pond and pig pasture. This year we are planting a pumpkin patch and medicinal plants to grow gifts we can share with friends and neighbors. Scott has a passion for woodworking, and he used reclaimed lumber extensively during construction. The walls and floors are made from resawn spruce beams from a 19th century mill in Knoxville. The exterior patina surfaces were used for the interior walls and ceilings. The floors are made from the clean interior cuts of those beams. The large structural beams and posts were sourced from locust just down the road. The exterior siding is of locally sourced white oak, milled using a circular saw to give it the older appearance. Downstairs, there is a large wood working shop that can easily be locked from the inside to prevent little guests in the bunk room from checking out the saws. We are committed to protecting the wild lands around us. In 2022 and 2023, we donated ten percent of our total profit to local conservation efforts. Thank you for partnering with us to keep western North Carolina intact for future generations to enjoy. We are also working towards converting half of our farm back to native plant communities. This means the farm is becoming a refuge for birds, catapillars, salamanders, box turtles, spring peepers, and all sorts of creatures who belong here. We also minimize single use plastic and encourage recycling and composting on the farm. Hope to see you soon. Guest access The farm is yours for the roaming! Sheep, goats, barn cats, chickens and two Great Pyrenees pasture dogs call the barn home, and you can visit them at your leisure. A family of ducks roam freely on the farm. We also have an African spurred thigh tortoise who loves company.
