Swarna's Homestay

Swarna's Homestay is the rooftop cottage in a three-storey house. Overlooking the Kolong river, it provides a lovely countryside view. Guests have access to the entire cottage and the terrace gardens. Homecooked food is provided on request. It is a silent neighbourhood. Guests have full privacy and more than one dedicated working space. It is suitable for transit and short stays as well as long stays. The space The rooftop cottage is on the terrace facing one of the three terrace gardens. It comes with an outdoor dining space on the topmost terrace, for an one-of-kind experience of dining alfresco. The cottage is spacious enough to accommodate six guests at once, but even if there's a single guest or a couple, they can freely use all the rooms during their period of stay. The living room overlooks the countryside view, the river and the frontyard of the house. Sofas and dedicated working space is provided in that room. The main bedroom is spacious, has two single beds, a dressing table and a study table. It has enough space for another sofa cum bed, which can be provided in case of more than four guests, on request. The second bedroom has a double bed and there is a wardrobe cum table, and a cloth stand. There is one bathroom attached to the main bedroom and is accessible from utility area as well. It has a geyser, western commode and shower. Towels and toiletries will be provided. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary utensils, cutlery, gas cylinder, stove, and basic condiments needed for cooking, and a four seater indoor dining table. Dining arrangements are flexible enough for ten people at a time for small events. Guest access Apart from the cottage and terraces, guests have access to a library full of fictions and books on varied subject matters. They can borrow books from the library and read in their rooms, or anywhere on the terraces or just use the library space to sit and read or for work. All in all, the space is designed keeping in mind the needs of short-term as well as long-term guests. Other things to note Homecooked breakfast and dinner is provided on request for an additional nominal cost. Providing lunch is difficult on most days, but you are welcome to request and we will see if we can arrange that. There are some good restaurants in Nagaon and food can be ordered online using Swiggy or Zomato services. Laundry can also be done on request for an additional nominal cost, or you are welcome to use the washing machine in the utility corner of the terrace and do your own laundry every alternative day. Power back up available for lighter appliances and for charging devices. You are welcome to bring your own vehicle, as there is sufficient and secure space for parking. Public transport like e-rickshaws are available to commute to nearby city and intercity bus stands and railway stations. Couple of grocery stores are located close by. Market areas are accessible at a 15 minutes walking distance/5 minutes distance by a car or two wheeler. It is gated residential property with well defined boundaries, private gardens and terraces, for you to feel quite comfortable and safe during your stay. It is a spacious, well ventilated and naturally well lit property. Our intention is to allow our guests, who come from cities, to experience urban amenities in a rural setting. Kaziranga National Park, Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, Bordowa Than, Mahamrityunjay temple, historical sites in Tezpur are some day-visit places from our location. Some easy to medium treks to natural sites in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong Districts can also be done within the day. Relish the Assamese Thali (vegetarian/fish) or a simple homecooked meal, while you are staying. Cooked using seasonal organic vegetables and herbs from the garden, the meals allow you an authentic Assamese cuisine taste. Weather is moderately cold in winters, otherwise it is a tropical warm climate most of the year. Long erratic monsoon season, needing one to come prepared, but for the adventurous ones this season promises an unique beauty of this region.
