Comfortable quiet en-suite, nr Blenheim/Clarkson's
Description
• Clarkson's farm (5 mi, bus) & pub (10 mi) • Blenheim Palace (7.5 mi, bus); Soho Farmhouse (8) • Wilderness Festival/Cornbury Estate (1.5 mi) • Charlbury centre (0.5 mi) - supermarket, deli, 4 pubs (incl. The Bull, The Bell), 2 restaurants, pharmacy, 2 bus routes, several festivals during the year, etc. • Beautiful Cotswold scenery and walks • Train station (1 mi) - London 70 mins; Oxford 20 mins • Oxford (12 mi); Chipping Norton (8); Stratford (30); Cheltenham (31) The space (A second room is available on request - king size or a single/twin room with shared bathroom, which I don’t rent separately usually). This room is light and airy with a really comfortable double bed and a private, modern en-suite bathroom with walk-in power shower, toilet and wash basin. The room has blackout blinds, ample storage space and a smart TV. The room is made up with fresh bedding, towels, toilet paper, shampoo and liquid soap. I do not enter the room to tidy or clean it, or to change towels/bedding, unless requested to during a longer stay period. Additional towels etc. are available in the airing cupboard. You have access to continental breakfast and hot drinks (see ‘Guest access’ section, or the photo). The house is double-glazed and is in a peaceful residential area. It is 10 minutes' walk from Charlbury town centre, and 15 minutes' walk from the train station, which is on a main line to Oxford (20 mins), London Paddington (1 hour 10), Worcester (1 hour). Free and convenient on-street parking. Guest access I provide a 'help-yourself' continental breakfast: coffee (cafetiere), tea, milk (oat milk on request), muesli and other cereals, sliced brown bread, butter, marmalade, jam, and often fruit. At other times you may use the kitchen to make drinks and store items in the fridge, but not for cooking full meals. Other meals: there are a number of friendly pubs in the local area. The Bull Inn and The Bell both serve food and have excellent reputations. Amarelo Bistro is highly recommended and serves delicious home-style Brazilian food (check opening days/times as they vary). Several other pubs serve great food in nearby villages: the Plough (Finstock), the Tite Inn (Chadlington), The Crown Inn (Enstone), The Swan (Ascott-under-Wychwood), and various eateries in nearby Woodstock and Chipping Norton. Additional options during the day: Charlbury Delicatessen, The Old Shed (20 mins pleasant walk out of town). Takeaways are limited, but there is an Indian, and a regular Fish&Chip/Pizza/various vans depending on the day behind the Co-op. During your stay I’m usually available via app chat for any queries if not at the house in person, and very willing to give information. Other things to note • IMPORTANT NOTE: I have an extremely friendly cat, so I advise against anyone who is allergic to cats staying here. The cat is not allowed access to the guest bedroom and is enclosed in the kitchen at night. • Because I have a cat, pets are not permitted. • I am a friendly and helpful host, but I also respect your privacy. • I work from home in a dedicated office room downstairs. • It’s usually just me in the house, but my 19-year-old son visits during college holidays and my boyfriend occasionally stays. • Additional guests above the maximum capacity are not permitted (but there is an additional room or guest mattress on request). • Bed linen, towels, bath mat, shampoo/body wash, hand soap and toilet roll are provided. • Mobile phone reception is variable both inside and outside the house. • No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the property. Fine in the garden. • Check in is from 15:00 and check out is by 10:00, but is generally flexible by prior arrangement. I look forward to welcoming you to the house and sharing local information with you.
