Insects are a normal part of life here. Costa Rica has a tropical climate. During the dry season, daytime temperatures can be high, and air conditioning may not always cool the house to a very low temperature. In these moments, the pool or a cool shower usually provides the most relief. During the rainy season, thunderstorms may occur, and short power outages are possible. These are usually resolved within a few hours.
