Description
Our simple wooden cabin has solar powered lighting and a south facing deck to enjoy the panoramic views. It is well insulated and sheltered by surrounding trees. There are footpaths and bike trails from the door. Zapato microbrewery is ten minutes walk away. The new off grid utility shed was completed in Dec 2025. It is next to the cabin. It includes a basic kitchen area, camping fridge and a small bathroom with a composting (waterless) toilet, sink and shower. Like camping without the tent! The space The cabin is elevated among the trees and accessed from a footpath. It is 3.5 x 2.5m with a wooden deck to the south and west . It has a wood fired stove and solar powered lighting. Double doors at the front open onto a private deck with space to sit out and enjoy the views of the surrounding hills and moors. This is a camping cabin. Comfortable, clean and compact. Guests should bring everything you would take camping except the tent! It has a pull out bed which extends to a double and can be used for seating during the day. A coffee barrel provides storage space for blankets and cushions. Above the cabin is small outside seating area with space for outside cooking. We have a pizza stove and small BBQ available to hire. The utility shed is two meters from the cabin. It is off grid . The kitchen area has a microwave, kettle, fridge, electric hot plate and toaster. We provide basic cooking utensils, plates, cups and glasses. At the other end of the utility shed there is a small bathroom with a composting (waterless) toilet, hand basin and shower . Water is warm but as it is off grid it is limited! There is a free parking space for one vehicle near the cabin. Access to our house and the cabin is down a steep, single track road. We are at 1 Bank Nook, a rural hamlet on the Pennine hillside in the Colne Valley. It is a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive to the villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden. An ideal hideaway for hiking, biking or just relaxing. NB IN VERY COLD WEATHER WE MAY NEED TO DRAIN DOWN THE OFF GRID UTILTY SHED . IF SO, GUESTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO ANOTHER ON GRID PRIVATE UTILTY AREA 20 METERS FROM THE TREEHOUSE Guest access There is a free parking space for one vehicle. Please note the road to Bank Nook can be icy in winter and Green Lane may not be drivable. It may be necessary to leave vehicles at Crowtrees and walk up the field to Bank Nook. Other things to note This is a basic camping cabin in a rural location. It is off grid (not "glamping").The bathroom and kitchen are in a utility shed 2 meters away from the camping cabin. The utility shed is off-grid. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are clean and basic. There is warm water for showers and washing but as it is off grid it is limited! The toilet is composting (waterless). Guests should bring all their own towels, pillows and bedding. A double fitted sheet works well! Basic cooking equipment and a starter pack of fuel are provided. The cabin is relatively new and the planting around it has still to be established, so there are still some bare patches and piles of wood and branches around! There are deer, birds of prey, foxes and squirrels living round the cabin and some chickens and horses in the next field. We have cat called Shadow who roams around and can access the utility room. The Sparth is a well used wild swimming place and is a ten minutes walk away. Access for vehicles can be tricky in winter and it may be necessary to leave vehicles at Crowtrees and walk up the field to bank nook.Unfortunately we can’t accommodate any animals.
