Description

Beautifully renovated iconic century-old Owhango Post Office's "East Wing" was originally the Post Master's home which today has been furnished with: > Roomy splendid Queen Bedroom > Optional two elegant Double bedrooms > Optional uber cool Dorm Room with 4 x Single Beds > Art deco style Bathroom with Shower > 1950s style Kitchen-Dining with adjoining Laundry NB: Standard Nightly Rate based on two guests per Queen/Double bed/bedroom - but don't hesitate to enquire about Single occupancy rates. The space For authentically historic and truly unique home-away-from-home facilities including: > "Ruapehu" Bedroom: Queen+ and Office Desk space > "Tongariro" Bedroom: Double > "Ngauruhoe" Bedroom: Double > Uber cool 4th "Dorm Bedroom" with 4 x Single Beds > Art deco style Bathroom with Shower (eco water-saving shower rose) > Hub of the home Kitchen-Dining (with adjoining Laundry incl washing machine & clothes dryer) > Heat-pump/Air-con in the Kitchen-Dining > Heater in each bedroom & Electric blanket on each bed > [Do Note: There is no separate Lounge within this East Wing.] REMINDER Standard Nightly Rates are based on Double occupancy (ie two guest per bedroom) - however Single supplements available on request. FOR YOUR OUTDOOR GEAR Access also available to the adjacent Garage to store outdoor equipment such as mountain bikes, skis, snowboards, fishing-rods etc, including power-points & garden-hose to wash your gear. IDEAL ACCOMMODATION for those wanting simplicity with elegance and don't need "all the bells & whistles". However if you desire lavish opulence with outstanding amenities, we recommend booking the Post Office's more glamorous WEST WING, which includes a gorgeous Gatsby inspired Lounge, plus private use of the Back Deck's sauna cabin, hot-tub spa-pool and fire-pit Guest access This Holiday Home bungalow is located on State Highway 4, at Owhango Village (corner of SH4 & Owhango Rd). There is plenty of parking - on our own gravel private carparking area next to the garage, and on the street in front of the property. Guest Access is simply by unlocking a key lockbox. Street-front parking RAMP ACCESS TO FRONT-DOOR: Potentially suitable location for someone with some limited mobility. [Toilet and Shower not designed for wheelchairs.] Other things to note This is one-half of an extraordinarily unique and fully renovated property THE OLD POST OFFICE Holiday Home. This wing of the OLD POST OFFICE is what originally was the Post Master's Residence section of the Old Post Office building. THE OLD POST OFFICE LODGE Holiday Home's EAST-WING is especially perfect for 2-3 singles/couples, or a Family/Families. TRAINS & TRUCKS TRAFFIC NOISE & VIBRATIONS: Post Offices of course were traditionally always built on main roads, which have oftentimes over the past century turned into main highways. Being on the corner of Ōwhango Rd and State Highway 4, there is traffic noise, so anyone who is a light sleeper may wish to wear ear-plugs. However, most guests don't experience problematic issues with the highway traffic noise. Also, because Ōwhango Village is entirely built on volcanic pumice rock, the whole Village vibrates when trains pass through (and it has done for more than a century). Many guests love the sound and vibration of the trains passing ... like being part of your own 1920s Agatha Christie novel! We do hope you will all enjoy embracing this authentically Owhango experience.
