The space Real quick -- some house rules: + No check-ins earlier than 4 or checkouts later than 10, our cleaners just can't pull it off since they have no idea what condition their other units were left in. + No smoking inside or out; no wood-burning fire pits; no parties; no pets. + 3 cars & 8 guests max. + Guests must load/start dishwasher and start a laundry load of towels/hand towels/washcloths at checkout. Now: onward!! I am so pleased to share with you my family's cabin on the outskirts of Rocky Mountain National Park. We fell in love with this place because of its proximity to endless outdoor recreation, the quiet hot tub off the back porch, and the serene brook running through a beautiful aspen grove in the yard. It's awesome to get to Hidden Valley in 15 minutes to sled or snowshoe in the winter, or to hike around Bear Lake during the summer -- the home is just minutes from the entry gate at Beaver Meadows. During the winter months, cozy up in front of two beautiful gas fireplaces and enjoy a soak in the hot tub. It's even better that the best cocktails, wine and food is a minute down the road at the famous Bird and Jim, one of the best restaurants in northern Colorado. During the summers, relax in the yard under the aspen grove! The sounds of the stream are idyllic, and the little swing is a great place to unwind and read a book. Marys Lake, a minute away, has fishing if you have a permit. The Bird's Nest, a minute away, has incredible coffee and wood fired pizzas. The Country Market, a minute away, will make the best sandwiches for you prior to a National Park excursion. A minute away there's probably an elk or deer feasting on some lush grasses. You get the picture -- the location is perfect. Five minutes away (!) is the downtown district. It's nice to be 5 minutes away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to get there quickly. BEDROOMS We have three bedrooms: a main floor double, a main floor queen with a rustic log bed frame, and a lower level queen with walk in closet, private en-suite bathroom with a jetted tub, and a private gas fireplace. BATHROOMS The home has a number of bathrooms: The main floor bathroom features a tub/shower, two sinks, and a toilet. The en suite bathroom on the lower level features a jetted tub, toilet and two sinks. There's also a shower in the laundry room. LIVING, DINING & COOKING Kitchen - My kitchen is absolutely stocked! Crock pot, drip coffee maker, full size fridge, oven, blenders, cooking utensils galore, pots, pans, and so much more. Let your inner chef loose! Living/Dining Area - One of my favorite parts about the layout of the home is is fosters gatherings. The main living area on the first floor is totally open, with sofa seating, dining table seating, and seating around the kitchen bar. It's great for socializing and hanging out. OUTDOOR LIVING One of my favorite features of my home is the lovely yard, accessible from the hot tub or front/side porch. There's a beautiful little stream running through it, and the aspen and pine groves on our property are so pleasant. You will love just sitting on the edge of the brook listening to the aspen leaves rustling and the brook babbling during the summer and fall. LAUNDRY Please use the free washer and dryer on the lower floor. DISTANCES + Marys Lake, Supermarket, Restaurants: 1 min drive + National Park Entrance: 5 min drive + Golfing: 7 min drive + Downtown: 7 min drive + Backcountry Skiing at Hidden Valley: 20 min drive + Eldora Ski Resort: 50 min drive Guest access Guests have access to our entire property: - 3 bedrooms, - 2 bathrooms plus a laundry room with a shower - a kitchen/dining/living area - a big deck- - a big fenced in yard with a seasonal street and grove of aspens - a private hot tub off the back porch - a kid's play area with a trundle bed, TV and gaming console. Other things to note NO SMOKING, NO FIRES My home was about a mile away from one of the largest forest fires in Colorado history a few years ago, so we are a strict no-smoking property. No smoking inside, outside, and no outdoor fire pits (now illegal in Estes Park's vacation homes). ROAD CONDITIONS Estes has a great plow team and our driveway will also be plowed during storms, but if there's a huge blizzard, they may not be plowed exactly when you need them to be. We cannot assist if you get stuck and we always recommend that people rent AWD or 4WD when visiting us from October to May. We are at 8,000 feet and this can be a snowy area! NONPAYING GUESTS Insurance forbids nonpaying/non-registered guests on the property. AIR CONDITIONER Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. Thankfully mountain air blows down from the high peaks and will cool down the place quickly in the evenings if you open the windows. There are fans in the living room and bedrooms as well. BEARS Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area often and can break in! MINUT We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located in the living room above the sofa.
