Stay a night on the banks of the beautiful Mississippi River nestled on a couple of private acres in an iconic Westaflia VW Van! Enjoy complimentary use of kayaks or paddleboards! Awesome river bluffs and nature views. Relaxing and serene! 45 min. from St. Louis, 20 min. from St. Charles! Minutes from Grafton Ferry! 4 miles from the Katy Trailhead at Machens! The space Who needs a tent when you can have the experience of a lifetime on a classic, iconic, and unrestored VW Westfalia Camper van?! One of the best views on the Mississippi River! An experience sure to never forget, guaranteed. The pop up top provides a double bed with awesome screened in windows that allows for extra cool views! Down below, is another double bed! 2 chairs will be set up outside your vanny van to sit on or to just shoot the breeze.... This is primitive camping, but way more awesome! No potable water on grounds, no electric hookups inside van, just back to basics fun :) You may charge your electronics at the outlets near the cabin/commons area. Bathroom and outdoor shower near cabin/commons area (hot water available). Additional outhouse on property. Shared use between all guests. Other things to note * We are an ADULTS ONLY property * Weekends and holidays can sometimes be the most booked days. There is a potential that you'll share the campground with other guests at different accommodations. Book Sunday-Thursday if you are looking for a more private and secluded time. * Please be mindful that the closest gas station/convenience stores are 15 minutes away. Plan ahead. * The Westaflia Camper Van is best enjoyed in rain-free weather. The pop-top bed cannot be used during really hard rains or excessive winds. We suggest looking at the forecast for our area for the day(s) you plan to reserve, before finalizing your booking so that you won't be disappointed :) *We reserve the right to postpone or cancel your reservation if we feel that the weather could impact the wellbeing and condition of the vanny van. * The van is an antique. Guests must utilize it and everything inside with the utmost of care, i.e., window rollers, doors, beds, etc. * We now spray for mosquito prevention! During the summer months, bring some bug spray, citronella candles, sunscreen, shower essentials, bottled water, and whichever necessities you need for your camping stay! IMPORTANT: - This is just like camping without a tent, but much more awesome! - Bring all the items necessary for your stay. This is camping. We provide bedding and chairs for outside. There is a firepit outside your van. We may have some dry/seasoned wood available at the time of your stay, but you are welcome to bring some, in case not. - Items inside the camper such as the stove, refrigerator, or electric hookups are NOT operable. - There will be bugs, and there will be some mosquitos (factors out of our control). Did we mention the river is right there? - Antique/vintage does not = not clean If these things are not your cup of tea, then this may not be for you- we know the vanny van may be an exciting bucket list item for some, but kindly refrain from giving us anything less than awesome ratings, just because you weren't prepared to be in nature :) AS OF NOW: UBER/LYFT will drop you off in Portage Des Sioux, but you CANNOT order an UBER/LYFT to get out of Portage. Those services will NOT come pick you up here! Plan ahead if you will not have a vehicle.
