Family-Friendly Apartment Near the National Zoo

Welcome to our one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in the best neighborhood in DC. This English basement is perfect for small families, couples, or business travelers (you can request up to 5 people if there are no more than 4 adults). Mt. Pleasant is a quiet and leafy neighborhood. It is also a diverse and inclusive community, and we expect all guests to welcome that aspect of our neighborhood! The space The apartment is equipped with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including a full kitchen. We are family-friendly! If you are bringing small children, we provide much of the necessary equipment to lighten your load (listed under amenities; in addition to the list, we provide a white noise machine, basic umbrella stroller, car seat, and toddler cot). This is a basement apartment with its own private entrance. The upper unit has full-time occupants, so please be mindful of the fact that noise can travel upwards and downwards. Footsteps and noises from young children playing upstairs can be heard in the apartment between 7 am to 7:30 pm, especially on the weekends, so if you like to sleep in past 7 am, this apartment won't work for you. We also ask that you do not play loud music or video games due to the shared walls and our quiet neighborhood. Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 7 am. No smokers please. There is no smoking, vape pens, or cannabis use permitted anywhere on the property. This includes no smoking outside within 25 ft (7.6 m) of the apartment per DC law. In addition, we ask that no strong perfumes are sprayed indoors as scent travels between the floors (cooking scents are fine). Restaurants, coffee shops, and a grocery store are all about 0.5 mile away, right in the neighborhood. There are also bike, car, and scooter rentals in the neighborhood. (IF YOU NEED PARKING, please read the instructions at the bottom of this listing.) Tourist attractions downtown, like the White House, the Mall, and museums, are accessible by walking to the bus (less than 0.5 mile to many bus stops) or the metro (0.8 mile to the Columbia Heights station). The National Zoo is a 0.8 mile walk away. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: -The apartment has low ceilings so if you are very tall, it may not be the best for you. -We do not allow weapons of any kind, illicit drugs, or animals on our property (service animals are welcome but please give us a heads up at the time of your booking so we can let our cleaners know) -DC is an incredibly diverse community, and we welcome all. Guests are expected to conduct themselves with respect regardless of personal or political beliefs, and we do not tolerate discrimination, hate speech, or violence of any kind. Guest access The apartment does not come with outdoor space for guest use (any smoking must also be done off our property). The back patio and front yard are for the homeowners only. There's a keyless lock. A personalized code will be sent in advance of your stay. Check-in and out at your convenience. Other things to note IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION: Please reach out with any parking questions BEFORE you book as we can't make exceptions to the cancellation policy for parking reasons. There is only street parking available, details below: 1. If you have friends and family who live in Mt. Pleasant, they can provide you a free street parking permit for your stay. Airbnb hosts are not allowed to provide this for guests. We can provide instructions if needed. 2. If you are staying longer than 7 nights: Please inquire about weekday parking arrangements that we can help you make. 3. If neither of the above apply to you: There is free street parking on weekends and federal holidays. On weekdays, there is free overnight parking from 8:30 PM-7:00 AM. During the day on weekdays, however, you can only park your car in the neighborhood for 2 hours max before needing to move it (for example, you could drive it downtown).
