The space This private, hand-built off-grid cabin retreat is tucked beneath walnut trees on a secluded corner of our 100-acre property near Smithville Lake, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. Built using reclaimed and locally sourced materials, the space is best described as elevated camping — simple, rustic, and intentionally unplugged. Your stay includes three distinct spaces: The Cabin & Coffee Deck A cozy 80-square-foot sleeping cabin with a full-size bed and soft lighting. Attached is a covered outdoor bar area with seating, a camp-style coffee setup, sink, and views of the woods and seasonal spring fed creek The Hammock Pavilion A spacious covered deck built from timber harvested on-site and topped with reclaimed barn tin. A peaceful place to relax, read, nap, or simply slow down. The Bath House A private bathroom featuring an eco-friendly composting toilet and hand-washing station. You'll also have access to a firepit area, outdoor seating, and a seasonal spring-fed creek that winds through the property during wetter months. A Few Things to Know This is a true off-grid retreat designed to help you disconnect and enjoy a simpler pace of life. Lighting is provided by portable battery power, water is supplied through simple camp-style systems, and the experience is intentionally rustic rather than luxurious. Perfect for guests who appreciate quiet mornings, nature, craftsmanship, and the charm of a handcrafted getaway. Guest access Guests have private access to the full cabin retreat and all spaces shown and described in the listing, including the sleeping cabin, covered coffee deck, hammock pavilion, bath house, firepit area, and surrounding woodland setting. Your stay is fully private and the retreat is never shared with other guests, giving you your own quiet space to relax and unwind. Other things to note Parking access varies depending on recent weather conditions. During dry weather, most guests can park near the retreat. After heavier rain, parking may be located approximately 100–200 yards away to help protect the property. A wagon is provided to make transporting luggage and supplies to the cabin easier. We recommend packing light and bringing only what you’ll need for your stay. Please note that access to the retreat includes stairs and uneven natural terrain, so guests should be comfortable navigating outdoor spaces. This is a true off-grid stay with no refrigeration, so guests planning to bring perishable food or drinks should bring a cooler with ice. The full-size mattress, pillows, fitted sheet, and pillowcases are provided. Guests should bring their own top blankets appropriate for the season.
