Description

Garden View is a private, self contained 2 bed cottage in a picture postcard village. Bright and contemporary, Garden View gives you the best of both worlds - beautiful countryside right on the doorstep and yet York is just 5 miles away. It's well connected. The A64 is a mile down the road, there's easy access to Castle Howard and the Designer Outlet, the Yorkshire coast is just over an hour away and it’s only a mile from The Normans for wedding guests. The space This is a contemporary cottage in a picture postcard village close to the beautiful city of York. Garden View would suit two couples or a family with young children. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the cooking equipment, crockery and glassware you’ll need. There's a fridge with a small freezer compartment. The lounge looks out onto the lovely garden. It has a large TV with a Now TV stick and plenty of board games. There's a table that seats four for indoor dining. There are two double bedrooms. One spacious, the other bijoux, but with everything you'll need. Both bedrooms overlook the garden. The shower room has a modern, contemporary feel and comes with fluffy towels and toiletries. There's a large garden at the back of Garden View. It has a garden bench - ideal for a morning coffee, a patio with a table and chairs to seat six - perfect for al fresco dining. And if you fancy games in the garden, we have a croquet set. There is a pub in the neighbouring village of Askham Bryan. It's just over a mile away (and less than that if you walk across the field). It serves food and give a warm welcome. The Grange coffee shop and garden centre is in the village - it serves great bacon sandwiches and the biggest slices of homemade cake! It's open Wednesday to Sunday. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and there's parking for up to two cars in the courtyard to the front of Garden View. Children are welcome to stay at Garden View, however please note that shelving is not fastened to the wall so if you have a climber then it might be better to look elsewhere. Regret no pets. We have two cats who enjoy the back garden. That doesn't mean we can guarantee that Garden View is allergy free. One of our cats is very friendly and if invited in by guests is very likely to say yes! We also have and a friendly Labrador. So what's the story behind Garden View? Originally it was a barn; it was converted into a cottage many years ago. It's had a complete overhaul - brand new floors/walls/bathroom and decor. Garden View is ideal for quiet getaways, visits to York without the hurley burley of a city break and wedding stays for nearby wedding venues. Guest access You will have exclusive use of the cottage and patio, and access to the large garden and small orchard. Our house is just across the courtyard to the front of the cottage. During the day we may be doing a bit of gardening or hanging out washing. In the evening the whole garden is just for you. The drive is big enough for you to park up to two cars. Other things to note We are next to a working farm. If you're lucky you might be able to spot a newly born calf through the gate. And if you have a little one who is tractor mad then you're in for a treat. You might also be treated to the dulcet tones of our farmer neighbour rounding up his cows. If you need to leave Garden View urgently and the normal exit route is blocked then the escape route would be via the bedroom windows. As it's a single storey property then it's only a short drop to the ground. However those with mobility issues may struggle. We want you to feel at home and ask that you look after the property as if it were your own. The cottage will be cleaned to a very high standard. If there is damage to the house or additional cleaning needed on top of a 'normal clean', you may be charged additional payments after your stay. Please - no smoking indoors.
