Arriving in Campbeltown you immediately feel you are in a cosy wee town with lots to see and do. Arriving at Rhuside it is hard to take your eyes off the wonderful view overlooking the harbour and the main town. Rhuside is very welcoming, with the living room having a panoramic window and a wood burning stove. All rooms are on the ground floor and there is a large wraparound garden, with the rear garden being perfect for children to play in whilst the adults sit and enjoy the view on the large picnic bench. There are several beaches to visit, one well known one is Westport Beach as it is a favourite for surfers. It has its own surf school and on a clear day you can see over to Northern Ireland, Islay and Jura. In the town, there is a refurbished cinema, a swimming pool with views over the harbour, and a gym. If you don’t fancy walking around, you can hire e-bikes too. The Heritage Centre and the Campbeltown Museum are well worth a visit and there is an area in the garden of the museum that has been dedicated to the late Lady Linda McCartney. There are a few whisky distilleries and a gin one too, where you can visit and enjoy a tour, a tasting session or the gin school, well worth booking in advance! For those who like some adventure, you can go to the Davaar Island Caves where you will see some spectacular paintings of the crucifixion; please remember to check the tide times for getting back. There are also boat trips form the harbour, one of which can take you over to Ballycastle in Northern Ireland. Rhuside was a family home for many years and the owners enjoyed their holidays there, there is so much to do just by walking down the main street, or going a bit further afield but one thing is sure, you will make many memories at Rhuside and Campbeltown.
