The Tapley Suite is on the second floor of our three room historic Country Inn on Bass Harbor. The Inn was built in the late 1800's to provide lodging for workers going to and from Swans Island. The Tapley Suite is named for our 'horse and buggy' doctor, Thomas Tapley, who practiced medicine from here. The space On the 'quietside’ of Mount Desert Island, the Tapley Suite is reminiscent of a bygone era and is updated with modern amenities. It is on the second floor, accessed by an interior hallway, shared landing and staircase. It has a new air-conditioner and the studio apartment offers a firm queen bed for two guests. It faces east across Harbor Drive and south over our meadow which is filled with lupines in June. The windows open to catch the sea breeze. This room also features an en suite, compact bath with cozy twenty-eight inch shower, Vermont Castings' gas fireplace, kitchen alcove fully equipped with the basics for cooking (please bring your own bakeware, spices, oil, chopsticks), Roku streaming television and sitting area. Stroll across the lawn as you mosey down to the water's edge - sit at the shore and watch the fishermen bring in their catch. Free in-room wifi and free off-street parking for one vehicle, including motorcycles. No trailers. Please remember to bring your own shampoo and conditioner. We cannot accept packages or deliveries. We provide deodorant and glycerin soaps as well as a 'starter set' of toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, sponge Brillo, and bed and bath linen. Please bring your own travel iron.
